I see references here and there to natural arches in Kentucky, and there is even a state park with arches in its name.

What might be the best route to take in the arches?

Has anyone stayed at the state park?

And thanks again to everyone for all the touring tips.

We have stayed at Boonesborough(sp?) State Park. About 30 min south of Lexington, off I75. Nice park. Could stay there and make a day trip to the Arches, which are east of Lexington.

OK, that's an excellent link. Arches aplenty.

Thanks.

Kentucky fun

If you go to Buffalo Trace, call in advance and see if the Hard Hat tour (behind the scenes) is available. IMO, its worth it.

I’ll have to see if I can work in Buffalo Trace or W-Reserve into our route. Thanks for the tip.

We will be going to one distillery, somewhere, I know.

Makers Mark and Jim Beam do nice tours, too, although Beam’s distillery is not part of the main tour and is located up the road a bit. Heaven Hill has the KY Bourbon Museum and does a rick house tour. All of them do tastings. Beam has the prettiest setting IMO, and there’s a simple little BBQ shack there that makes a nice sandwich so you don’t need an extra stop.

I’d recommend either Maker’s Mark, my first choice, or Buffalo Trace. Buffalo Trace in Frankfort KY offers a behind the scenes tour that’s a must do if your going.

Don't miss the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, then.
