Just returned from one week trip to AR and so MO (from Chicago area). Our first experience and we loved it. 19' Bambi CCS with a 118" wb Dodge Sprinter TV worked well together, and handled well over lots of twisty roads through the hills. Averaged about 17 mpg.
Had to stop at A/S dealer in Searcy, AK to have the power converter replaced when it failed on our first day, leaving us with no
12v power. We ran the batteries down, and then the furnace wouldn't light. Fortunately, the heat strip in the A/C unit kept things acceptably warm through a 24 degree night. The guys in Searcy were great, jumped right on our problem, and had us back on the road quickly.
Installed a Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller, which worked well (found a setting of 4.8 to be about right). No equalizer or sway control, and none needed, it seems.
Tried State Park campgrounds, Corps of Engineer parks, private campgrounds, and even a city park with RV hookups in Hermann, MO. We found we liked the more natural settings the best. The Corps of Engineers park in Scott, AK was our favorite. Loved Little Rock area, hated driving through Branson (done just to see what it looked like).
The 19' Bambi is about right for us, two people and one labrador retriever. With kids or any more people, it would be really tight in cold weather conditions where you do so much inside. In the summer, when you can spend more time outside, it might be okay.
Looking forward to our next adventure, which will probably be a trip around Lake Michigan in late April/early May.
