We've reserved Black Rock Canyon Campground at the end of January and will be there 7 days. We didn't want a chance of not getting a site. The other campsite that has reservations is Indian Cove. Black Rock has a dump station.

We've camped at Black Rock. Very nice. They have both fresh water and a dump station there.

We stayed at Indian Cove. When we go back, we’ll stay there again. Most sites are secluded and well maintained and I liked being able to make a reservation. The other campgrounds looked nice as well, you probably won’t go wrong wherever you camp! Mike

Be sure to get a reservation. Try for site 21 or 22 because the rock formations are wonderful. This is boondocking so come prepared.
Good to read your recommendation. Coincidently, last year we made reservations at Indian Cove twice, once at site 21 and then again at site 22, and ultimately ended up having to cancel both times. We chose the sites because the pics on the booking web site looked nice but we haven't actually visited yet. Anyway, we've now booked again for 2/25-28 at site 21. Going to make it this time!

I've stayed at Jumbo with my pop up, having travelled so far at spring break was nervous about getting a spot, so booked a campsite at the camp ground on the outskirts just in case. We were in the park by 9:00am and found a killer site, one of the happiest of my camping trips when my kids were little. I'd get in as early as possible and look for signs of people packing up to leave. Can't imagine all that tough in Jan.

Joshua Tree advice

[ATTACH]305836 Greater Los Angeles Airstream Club camped at Jumbo Rocks in January. Rigs from 19’ Bambi to 30’ Classic were accommodated. The key is to go mid-week and arrive early. We heard from a ranger that Joshua Tree NP will be on reservamerica, possibly it already is. Of course, that means planning 6 months in advance. Would love to know what sites people had, and their AS length. I’ll start: our 25’ fit nicely into site #43.

Just checked on recreation.gov. You can now make reservations for Jumbo Rocks.
Here is important information to know:

Attention: Please bring your own drinking water. No extra vehicles are allowed.
There is no electricity / water / sewer site hook-ups at this facility.
Reservations are taken from February 1, 2018 through May 27, 2018. Sites may be available on a first come - first served basis outside the reservation season.

I also have a 30’ AS. Which spot did you choose? Was there plenty of room to maneuver? I’m heading there next spring.

For a dump station, head back out on highway 62 going west. Turn left onto Park Blvd, the main entrance to Joshua Tree. There you will find a ranger station, a full hookup campground and a dump station. The dirt roads winding through the facility have been pretty dicey in the past, so we generally don’t dump there and find other places. But, if you head south through the park, the campground at the south entrance has a level dump station. It will be free if you keep your Indian Cove stub. Enjoy Indian Cove, one of our favorites. We will there again at the end of October for Pumpkin Camping.

we stayed in site 22, and there was plenty of room to get in, but it does share the space with 21 and when both are being occupied, it can be "close". The dump station at Black Rock is a little confusing to find, so make sure of your route to it before you try and find it. We enjoyed our stay there and plan on returning, maybe a different spot though. I will look ar our notes and post added info

Joshua Tree advice

We camped at Black Rock and used their dump / fill station, no problem with our 27FB. Campsites aren’t exactly level, but we used enough lego blocks to make it work. Nice place!

picture of site 22 without someone in 21

if you're staying at Black Rock you shouldn't have any problem finding the dump station, but if you're if pulling a trailer into the campground to dump, there are no signs and the "help" was no help on directions, we ended up having to back the trailer a considerable distance to recover from a wrong turn, I was just giving a heads up
