January in Tucson

Hi everyone,

My wife and I are looking to go to Tucson the fist week in January 2009 and are looking for suggestions as to parks/camp grounds. I've seen the pics of Catalina State Park and it looks really nice. We are ideally looking for sites on the north side of the city near the Catalina Mountains. This will be our first experience in a camp ground or park. We've mostly done boon docking but this time we are looking for something a little more luxurious. We also are interested in full hook ups and to not be right on top of other folks. I'd apprecaite any suggestions that any one might have about this area. Thanks.

You can come and joining the 4CU New Years rally at Picacho Peak State park just north of Tucson just off I-10.It is Dec 31st till 4 Jan 2009.Some will be there on the 30th.You sure are welcome.
The group area that the rally is in is dry camping, but they have hook up in there other areas
Hope you will stop by and see us.

Another option is Gilbert Ray Campground. It is located west of town near Old Tucson. They have 30 amp service, water close by and a dump station. It is a very quiet desert location.

The New Years Rally is less then an hour up the road at Picacho Peak State Park.

I just phoned Catalina State Park....they have no sites with sewers, but they do have a dump station.

It is really a nice park and we think well located, of course, maybe because we live here in OV. There is a private park on up State Highway 77 (known also as Oracle Road) named the Wishing Well.

The phone # of The Wishing Well Trailer Court (clue there is 520-825-3361 and it is located at 16100 N. Oracle Road.

It truly is a trailer court but it has full hook-ups. Brenda and I would feel comfortable there; it is not fancy but we like it.

If you'd care to try South of the city there's a nice park down in Amado, full hookups, great view of the mountains, quiet with decent size sites and it's nowhere near full. DeAnza Trails RV resort. We've bene here two weeks and like it, will be spending another 6 weeks here.

My family loves the Organ Pipe Cactus National Park right in the beautiful Sonoran desert and outside Tucson. You can camp nearby and there's lot to do, especially for families!
