Jalama Beach, Ca...Ever camped there?
Found a great looking beach to bring the family to...Jalama Beach. I've never even heard of it and I've lived in the general area my whole life...So, I'm hoping to find someone who has been there to offer opinions.
Thanks!
Robert.

I too would like to hear reports from people who have been there recently. My dentist who is an avid surfer loves the place and sings its praises. However, I have seen some reports that say that the environment is getting worse due to people who trash the place physically and aurally.

Hi all: We are scheduled to head to Jalama the last Wed in July for 5 days, pending a few uncertainties which may keep us from making the trip. Going based upon a referral from some other camping friends, who are going too. According to them the place is awesome, first come first serve for camping, so must go during the week, get there early, and enjoy the water, sand, surf, and sun. May get real windy, so ropes to tie down canapies, and we may not put up the awning.
Anyway, if we go will post pics and thoughts?
Robert and Sherry.
ps: Any other airstreamers able to get there toward the end of July?????

Jalama Beach Camping
I go there quite a bit. It's really great! I love it there. The beach is beautiful, surf gets really big in the winter, the water is cold. They have a store there, you have to try the Jalama Burger. You are close enough to Santa Barbara and Solvang for day trips.

Have fun!

Oh, the sites near the water don't have hookups, but it's worth it!

How's the drive
Is the drive in from 101 still a twisty two laner? It has been over twenty years, but I still remember the huge surf.

I see it has a group camping area. Do we want to slap up a road trip?

Yes, we have courtesy parking for you. About an hour North of Los Angeles.

Windy two laner
Yep, the turn off is on Highway 1 between Lompoc and the 101. Sometimes there is a sign that says campground full on the two lane road, but I have found that it's not always true. The road is no problem, I towed my 31 foot beast there. Be careful of the sharp turns and crazy drivers.

road trip
Goin camping,
We are always up for a road trip. Throw us a PM and we can set it up and maybe drag a few more along given enough notice. Maybe a 3 or 4 dayer.

Jalama
Never been there------I do remember calling once ,as I remember its first come first served. Although at the time you could call the park attendant before making the 12-15 mile drive ,and they would hold a spot for you,

Seems like a great "spur-of-the-moment" spot for us...about 2.5 hour drive.
We'll have to wait for a few free days...
When/if it happens, I'll let everyone know about our experiences there!
Robert.
