Jacksonville to Jackson Center

Oh please help me figure this out. I need to get to Jackson Center mid August and I am having a heck of a time trying to figure out the best route up, places to stay, etc. On the way back home I would really like to drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway. I could easily take all interstates without ideas and input but would really like to take a more scenic ride on the way up. Thought about dropping by Tybee Island and maybe St. Simons but after that I am lost. I tried the Good Sam RV planner but I didn't seem to get very far. Please offer suggestions on campgrounds and routes. Thanks.

Us 441 goes through n ga. Stay at top of ga AS park or ga mt fairgrounds. Helen ga and hiawassee, ga. Get onto us23 in nc and continue on all the way to the Ohio river. Swing over to the west and had to Jackson center.

Or you can stay on 23 to Columbus, OH then take US-33 almost all the way to Jackson Center.

Being a Southern Ohio native I second staying on 23 to I270 inColumbus, Oh and the get off on 33 towards Marysville. Easy and scenic unless your preference is interstates.

Oh thanks. Looks like 23 to 33 would be a better drive. Interstates are Interstates and they all pretty much look alike. I won't be in a hurry so the scenic route is preferable.

When you come through Chillicothe area - if you need anything or want to have a stop my wife and I would be happy to assist. I believe Aug is the only month we're not pulling somewhere.

Great Trip

I am with you, take the senic route. Some ideas. Do not try and do the whole route from Ashville to West Virgina. It gets to be too much. The park campgrounds on the Blue Ridge are not good. I would go to Ashville, there is beautiful campground right out of Ashville (south east of town) that is very nice. I use Google Maps to plan my trips. I like to read the State Parks sites for each State. I use recreation. gov and reservation.com plus the campground reservation sites for each state parks. Georgia and Ohio have great parks and great campground web sites.

One more thing if you use Google Maps you can take the little man on check the condition of the roads you are considering.

Have a great trip.

Boone NC KOA is the best place in that section of the parkway.

They are a little more scenic than taking I-75, but from a few miles north of the Ohio River to just short of the turn off onto state route 274 both US-23 and US-33 are mostly four lane divided highways, and a good chunk of that is limited access. So if you're expecting "quaint" along with way you're largely out of luck. It isn't like old Route 66 or a trip along the old Lincoln Highway.

Sean - thanks for the heads up about the route. Not many drives are like 66. Divided highways are ok with me. I don't have time this trip up to be too leisurely but getting off the interstate is a plus. On the way back home I will have more time and plan to take the Blue Ridge Parkway down to Asheville and then head over to the coast for the rest of this trip. Most of the way back home will be at a much slower pace with lots of stops along the way.
I really appreciate everyone's input and suggestions.
