nohillgrish, was this the Elk River? Been there ~G
It was either Elk River, or Big Sugar Creek that flows into Elk River very close to where we were.

Cherokee, NC

Hi group, Just returned from Cherokee, NC and the beautiful Happy Holidays campground. We had a fall buddy rally there. We were small in attendance but had fun visiting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the visitor's center, seeing bull elk, deer, wild turkeys, and the beginnings of fall leaf color. The casion didn't get much of my money, but it was fun to visit. There are plenty of mom and pop type restaurants and a few new ones that are worth checking out, especially the new BBQ buffet. The mornings were cold (37 degrees) and the days warm with highs in the upper 60's.

We just returned from the Inaugural Branson Rally. We had 26 trailers, and a great time was had by all.

Just got back from......home?

We were already camping at Edisto Beach State Park in SC for the last 2 weeks. We left here early Sat morn to return home (Tn) to pick up our grandson, who attends a year round school district and has a 2 week break. We picked him up late Sun, went back to our house and early this morn left Tn to come back to Edisto, with grandson in tow, so he has a week at the beach. I told Grammy I had better earn a lot of points for this 1200 mile, round trip, take Johnny to the beach trip. Anyway, we're back at the beach and he's already hunting for fossils and shark's teeth. Having grandkids is great. So this is our "just got back from" in reverse story after returning home for the weekend.

Got back yesterday from a great Forums weekend at Pecotonica. We had six units and one family without their trailer on Saturday. Lots of kids (about 11 or so). As typical at a forum rally, lots of good food. The campfire never went out. Weather cool but pleasant. A lot of photos at http://www.airforums.com/forums/f288...a-34525-9.html

Just got back, but ready to go again

Just got back thursday from a trip out west. We found a couple nice spots to camp. Our dog Sid, climbed the dunes also. Did it early morning before the sand warmed up. Man, what a grunt that was. One step up, then slide back 2/3 steps. Not old Sid, he has 4 wheel drive.

We put ours away for the winter

Boo hiss - I hate when this happens. It is SO depressing to know the only use it is going to get between now and March is my testing the mattresses out several times a week, in twenty minute to one hour stretches, for any possible defects. I must admit, with it tucked away in it's lean-to, it is a great place to hide .

But this time of year, although very pretty with the leaves turning, is still very sad with the bullet being tucked away and out of daily sight.

It's Monday . . .

. . . and I just got back from camping with friends at Fort Mountain State Park, Georgia. The weather was as perfect as it could get. Great hiking, but missed the black bear sighting. That's what I get for cutting off the trail too soon. The trees are just starting to show color here in the South.

Also picked up this interesting little waffle iron in an "junque shop". At $4 I couldn't resist. A little polishing and it has Airstream-like qualities.

Just got back yesterday from Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The little town was packed with interesting folks (I've just got to start taking my camera to share with you all). We've been out the last three weekends straight and hope to go again this weekend. October-November are two of my favorite months for camping in this area. My sympathies to those of you who have to bed the buggy down for winter. Winter camping is also a favorite time for us. More wildlife and certainly less crowed at the campgrounds. Nice waffle iron there Sugarfoot. Saw some old toaters this past weekend that had been shined up and modified to look like Airstreams--pretty cool!!

Steve,
We hope to head down to what is now known as Waters Edge on Table Rock Lake (used to be called Port of Kimberling Campground) in Kimberling City, Mo. I called the other day to see if sites were available and, at that time they had plenty. Full hookups are available. Do a web search for (Port of Kimberling, Kimberling City, Mo and it will re-direct to their site. Ph. 417-739-5377 So far, just a couple of friends with SOB's and Claxton's in their sweet new AS. Come on down. Would love to see you and Amy again.

OK..let's hear some great stories and see some good pics from this past weekend...

I did not go camping as we sold our only operational Airstream last week and our 75 is still "under re-contruction", but I did take 3 of my sons fishing and man did we have a great time...sorry no pics of our bounty...

...we only caught two!

But man did we have fun!

Just returned from FALLUMINUM in the north Georgia mountains. Near (40) trailers and possibly 100 people attended a very successful rally. The fall colors, full moon, highly polished trailers, and of course the friendly owners, with many dogs present, were great camp ground buddies. Getting back to my paying job has been a slow go this morning.

Just back from warm and sunny NC via Shenandoah National Park. Lovely fall colors in the mountains even in the rain!

Spent the weekend in the quaint little town of Hermann, MO. Its in the middle of MO wine country, and the vineyards all have parties every full weekend in October. Great time, the city park is an RV park, too.

We haven't been to Hermann for Octoberfest for years, but it's reported to be very settled down and "folk" fest compared to the rip-snortin' wine-enhanced (!) celebrations of days past when it was the dedicated destination of crowds of college students from around the state. I think it's back again to what it was first intended to be. Sounds like you had a great weekend. Did you stay at the city rv park? How was that? ~G

We did stay in the city park. It was fine. You must make reservations EARLY to get a spot in the "RV" portion of the park. It has 3 pt hook-ups. There are several 2 pt spots in the parking lot of the swimming pool that are fine, too. The 'fest runs all four full weekends in October, but the college kids still party hard the middle two weekends. The first and last are the more sublime. This was our fourth year running, attending the last weekend. It's been great everytime. Maybe a rally spot.....?
