It's getting COLD and snow's on the way!

Here's one of the better interactive weather radar maps I've seen.

Interactive Radar Weather Map

Thought this might come in handy for anyone planning a trip, with snow being a possibility in some areas.

Intellicast is an excellent source. I use it before piloting the other "Silver Bullet" (the one with wings). Zoom in and you will see the 3 letter airport identifiers.

Not only a possibility, but a certainty here in Central NY (Syracuse area). Typically 10'+ per year, except for greater amounts "at higher elevations and in persistent squall areas" - that's us

Happy New Year,
Jeff

My favorite is Weather Underground They also have "Personal Weather Stations" listed at most locales. This gives you an idea of the actual neighborhood weather, not what the weather is at the nearest airport. My weather station uploads info to them every 5 minutes. They have some cool maps there that you can select right on the home page.

It is 8, yes EIGHT degrees here, as I type this, and FALLING! They forecast a low of 12 tonight. Looks like it may go to zero if this trend continues

That Ain't Nothing

Pick, COArgosy78, Navigator, et al:

What is this masochistic tendency we have to tell others how cold/snowy it is where we live?

How bout somebody joining in to tell us how hot/humid it is where you live!

I just don't get it Stop the Madness

OK. It's downright balmy here. Too hot to wear clothes, have to stay in the swimming pool, even my toenails are sweating, its like a Zima commercial without the Zima. How's that?

Ducked the bullet

It;s not balmy here. It was high 20s last night and predicted low 20s tonight. High was 37 today. Rain is expected tomorrow late, but it is expected to be above freezing and stay above by the time the rain arrives.

It is actually great to get a couple of freezing nights here. It gets rid of a lot of bug problems in the coming year. The years that we have no freezing weather, we fight bugs all the enxt spring and summer.

Tomorrow morning at about 9am, I'm pull out with the Airstream headed for 4 or 5 days at Rockport on the Texas coast. Should be some warmer down there; it's about 200 miles south of here and lots of water to temper the weather a bit.

The trailer is winterized and I may or may not have to re-winterize on my return. Today and tomorrow may very well constitute our "winter". Some years, a sweater is about all that is needed. I'll just have to watch the forecasts.

Hey FlyFisher:

Would you have any interest in adopting a baby-boomer couple for a tax write-off.

Wife is an RN, can "head and gut" fish and is a damm good cook.

I'm a pretty fair Airstream mechanic, carpenter, plumber, electrician and will do polishing.

Have own accomodations (full hookup a plus), pool privileges and beer money are negotiable.

Reply in confidence by PM.

Rockport is 27 miles from Corpus Christi up the coast toward Houston. Rockport is a former fishing/shrimping town turned into a tourist town with probably a couple of thousand RV sites for winter texans.

We like Rockport. Lots of restaurants and arty shops. Just north are the salt flats where the whooping cranes winter. About 10 miles and a free ferry ride takes us to Port Aransas. A half hour south and we are in Corpus.

Wow! woke up this morning to temperatures that are high enough to boil off propane. The humidity is so high that it is forming a white crust on everything.

You'd think

Hey

You folks don't know what cold is until you spend some dark, cold nights above the "Arctic Circle".

ciao
