I couldn't swim in our pool yesterday OR today it got so cold. I had to put a vest on over my tee shirt to go over to my mom's house tonight.

Man, if this keeps up we'll have to turn off the air conditioning. Brrr!

Hard to take

Frost this morning (high 20s), but I worked outside in the sun in a long-sleeve T-shirt this afternoon.

Tuesday, I'm going out to Pedernales Falls state park for 2 nights to do a little hiking. After fracturing my back last fall, I'm still trying to get back to doing the things I did before such as a 9-mile hike. Best I can do now is 4 or 5 miles before I have to quit.

Unhappy Back Injury

Pahaska,

Bummer. I kind of know what you are going through. When I shoveled and wheel barrelled 34 cubic yards of limestone road base around last September to create a level surface to park my recently purchased Airstream I developed a sciatica pain in my rear and down my left leg. Knocking on aluminum (and wood) the pain finally disappeared about two weeks ago. Four months of limited activity took its toll. That was the first time in my life I had back problems. But it being 4 degrees this morning and about 15 inches of snow on the ground I will still not be getting out and about much.

Pahaska,

May I suggest you don't try to over do it and instead, rehabilitate slowly by focusing on repetitions of 12oz arm curls?

These make perfect 12oz weights!

Great idea! let's see ... 12 oz., 11 oz, 10 oz, etc. I can handle that, but the weights will probably say Shiner.

no bait and switch here!

just doesn't seem like winter unless you are plowing snow with the bumper!

if it wasn't for all the storms that came up from iowa, i doubt we would have had any snow this year!

I know the scenario all too well having been raised in western Iowa. Snowdrifts higher than most school children, icicles that look like stalagtites hanging from the eaves to the ground, too cold to even go get the mail, when you DO get dressed to go out your arms are straight out from your body because of 43 layers of clothing and you can't bend over to latch up your snow boots, getting a new used vehicle each spring because you seem to total one each winter because of the weather and its too cold to go ice fishing even in the heated ice house. These are just several of the reasons I moved south permanently.

Did you say snowdrift?

FF,

Is this what you had in mind?

Actually I have to have my driveway plowed with a bobcat and the piles are getting pretty high. It is snowing again tonight.

Yes, that's how I remember them except I don't seem to recall the big silver thing under all that white stuff
