Is my wife smart or what?

She was towing her boat and at a stop sign smelled something overheating. She was pretty sure it was the truck in front of her but to be sure, she pulled over and felt the hubs to be sure they weren't hot. All was OK, but I'm glad she checked.

Red face Always pay attention to your partner...

Never underestimate the power...

95 Burb TV ideling in line at the dump station...

DW... "honey do you hear that snake noise?"

"snake noise?"..."what the hell kind of noise does a snake make?"

"hissing!"

me laughing..."no I don't hear any snake noises, relax already"

Ten min later as we drove over the shoulder on the entrance road...the exhaust separated from the header pipe.

"honey the snake noises just got much louder"

damn I hate it when that happens.

If my wife was that smart, she would have never married me. But I'm glad she did.

I don't know how it is with other couples, but I know I am far more sensitive to sounds, smells, etc. I usually know when something is going wrong with our rig before the hubby does. I usually check the hubs at gas station stops, but I don't know what I'd do if one was hot!

I've been around long enough to know what the answer was before I read the thread.

You didn't say, but was the truck driver suprised to see her checking his hubs?

First of all the answer to that question is always yes.

I count on my wife to listen to high pitched noises from fan motors and the like. I lost almost all my really high frequencies after flying for 30 years. I must admit it's a bit frustrating to not have a clue what she's talking about after the tenth time of being told about the high pitch squeal coming from the fan motor.

I've raced cars too many years, I depend on my wife to alert me to noise outside my range of hearing even if I prefer to remain blissfully deaf. Although I can identify with just seeing $$$ signs and the answer to the tread is always an unequivocal yes!

Tell the truth, I bet it was the hubs on the boat trailer that she was most concerned about.

Ace, are you really sure it's your wife who is still being trained?
sounds like I'm in good company, too many years of engines, guns and machine shop noises! I used to argue with the wife about noises, now I know better

You may be right Tim. I'm in the same boat. My hearing is not 100% too. Been around noises airplanes for a long time. I'm always saying "What" to my wife. But I'm trained. I know when go hide in my Airstream.
