Indiana Dunes State Park and surrounding areas

I have a family reunion that is in Long Beach, IN and I was hoping to camp in the Dunes State Park for the weekend. Not to my surprise, the state park campground is sold out, have any of you had luck just showing up when ReserveAmerica shows it as sold out, or do you know anywhere else in the area that I should try?

Total last minute camping as I was originally not going to be around.

If they had walk-up sites, that would show on Reserve America, so if none show and they show booked, I would look elsewhere.

You could always call them, and there may be someplace close where they refer folks...
