When we pulled into Lake Catherine State Park in Arkansas a couple of weeks ago, we noticed that they had an amphitheater as many state parks do. Our son,
René Moffatt | A Singer & Writer of Songs who is a DC-based singer-songwriter drove down to spend a couple of days with us and we mentioned to him that we had seen the venue and that he could put on a show. Mostly it was just a joking suggestion. That was Thursday night.
On Friday at noon, he went up to visit with the rangers to see if it could be a possibility. By 3 p.m. they got back to him and told him they would have the lights and power on at the stage for a 7:30 show.
He travels with his guitar but needed an amp and a mike, so we made a quick trip into Hot Springs where Big Event Music rented him the necessary gear, went to FedEx Office and printed off some flyers he had put together on his Mac (the advantage to being a graphic designing singer songwriter).
Upon returning to the campground, we split up and distributed flyers to campers we saw and posted on all the shower buildings and soda machines as well.
At 7:30, more than 50 campers showed up to hear a concert of his original acoustic music. He gave away as many CDs as he had brought with him and had at least one new Facebook friend within 30 minutes of the end of the set.
Just thought it was worth sharing.
