If you LOVE your truck, clap your hands!

OK, it turns out that my faithfull LR4 is not enough for my FC27FB 2016, so off to buy I truck I went. While in FL Sunday is the busiest day at car dealerships, in CO they are closed, so no luck. This gives me a few hours to consider options, so please let me know if you LOVE your truck, so I buy the same. Sort of a poll asking for the kindness of strangers to chose wisely.

Thanks!

PS: If you hate yours, sorry and please also let me know, so I benefit from your mistake

Ford, Chevy/GMC, Ram and Toyota (at least) all make good trucks. You need to look at what you need and like, and then compare them against your own preferences.

After our first year of towing our 25FB International with a Range Rover we came to the same conclusion and last March bought a 2016 Ford F350 Power Stroke diesel. We now have about 5K towing miles and are extremely happy with the truck. Very relaxed driving no matter the terrain. Good luck in your search.

I love my 2010 Sport Trac Adrenalin. It had. Tw cap of 6990 and payload of 1400.
Not for everyone but so far it works great with our 25'.

I love mine. A properly configured Escalade/Yukon/Tahoe has the power and capability to tow a 30' Airstream plus makes an excellent daily driver.

There are so many good trucks out there these days. Just decide what size truck you want/need and then choose the brand that suits you. We went with a RAM 2500 and love the way it tows, but we also liked things about the others we drove. Some things that made us choose the RAM include good turning radius, felt more nimble than others we drove, liked the design of the dash, pricing, and the wonderful Cummins inline 6. The Chevrolet/GMC twins may have won out, but they had just come out with the new body style at the time and there were no deals that matched our price point.

You cannot go wrong with any full size truck from the big three. Do consider a diesel for your size trailer. My GMC/Duramax has been the best truck I have owned. Minimal repair issues over eight years and 158k miles. The Allison trans has worked flawlessly with no repairs needed. Service engine and transmission at recommended levels and enjoy.
In the 1/2 ton arena the Nissan/Cummins is too new to have a track record.

Vitaver-

We have the same Airstream as you, our Shiny Pete is a 2014 Flying Cloud 27fb. We bought this coach due to it's floorplan, weight, and the Airstream quality, coming out of a 40' diesel pusher in a size downgrade, but we love our Pete, and have a lot of nights aboard the past three years.

I am firmly planted in the 1/2 ton crowd, and feel a 3/4 or larger truck is overkill, especially for a coach with a 7300 lb GVWR. We have a 2015 F150 that does an excellent job towing our Pete, including this past summer through the Smokies in North Georgia and Western NC. I have included a link where I tell the rather wordy story of our truck here if you are interested..........

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f463...le-141137.html

I also drive a 2005 F250 4x4 extracab with the 6.0 powerstroke and have towed Pete with it, but I really dislike the 3/4 ton ride. As had been said on AF many times, if you want to take 1500 lbs of stuff in the truck bed on top of your tongue weight, buy a 3/4 or 1 ton. However, with careful loading, a properly setup and adjusted WD/SC hitch, and a properly configured 1/2 ton, life is good.

I hope our story helps.

We love our GMC Sierra 1500 with Max Trailering. 6.2 L V8. Pulling a 30' Classic. 14+ mpg towing, 23+ daily driving. Recently took it up the High Road to Taos and it did great on the climb and descent with engine breaking and Manual shifting. Many will recommend 3/4 ton and diesel but the Sierra 1500 is quite adequate for the task and a great daily driver.

We pull our 30 foot classic with the GMC Sierra 2500. We could not be any more happy with his performance than we are now. We did not want to get a 2500, really wanted the 1500 because 2500 seemed like too much of a truck. However, after going across the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming this summer we realized a 1500 never would've pulled our trailer. It is a nice smooth ride with the trailer and we have been amazed at how quiet a ride it is. Virtually no road noise.

Tow Vehicle of choice

Ford diesel 6.7, depending on extra load in pick up, F250 or 350, had both and they have handled my 30' FC just fine. Just drove the 2017 F350, wow, want one, terrific upgrades to everything...

Love my 2500 RAM Big Horn with Cummins Diesel. I was surprised, but has been my favorite car of all time. It feels like a big truck, which i was surprised to like so much. Have to love the diesel downhill brake - so I am strong advocate of Diesel for trailer pulling. This way you will never worry.

My two pennies, for what they're worth.....
You probably can't go wrong with whatever you choose, but after we upsized from a 25 ft to a 30 ft Flying Cloud, the 1/2 ton Titan just didn't give the margin of safety error I was looking for. We tested all the big three in 3/4 ton configurations. I really liked the Cummins and we had extreme luck in finding a used 2013 Ram Laramie long bed with only 27k miles. Previous owner had outfitted it to haul a fifth wheel, including an auxiliary 60 gallon fuel tank in the bed. You can add an auxiliary tank with diesel, but not gasoline. My towing range approaches 1000 miles.
It has more features than I need and is very comfortable to drive.
So for me, Long bed + auxiliary tank + exhaust brake = Home Run.

Best of luck on your decision.
