We spent the last two days near Mt Rainier at the Maple Grove Resort in Randle. You're right KathyH, the weather was beautiful. Of course, it rained last night. And now it's wet and cloudy outside. What a difference from yesterday.

Where did you stay this weekend? Any upcoming plans for Memorial Day weekend?

Orange kayak, I like your picture! I'm adding Pacific Beach State Park to our list of places to stay, it looks like a nice place to stay.

...and Maple Grove, too. Hey, next time you're in the Vicinity of Randle, also check out Iron Creek. No hookups, but the trees. The trees. Amazing. Facility Details - Iron Creek Campground, WA - Recreation.gov

Thanks! Get a beach side spot-the best! Sites are close together and no trees, but worth it to be 20 steps from the beach.

Sunset at Fildalgo Bay RV Resort, Anacortes, WA

Early in June we stayed a few week nights there, right on the water. Only 3 other RV's, one another Airstream owned by Camp N Hound. One night, beautiful sunset, another night a flock of snow geese with goslings feeding on the shore line. Natural beauty at its finest.

Hwy 410 to Mt. Rainier

Before you go for a Mt. Rainier visit this July, check the WSDOT website for road project updates. We had a short weekend visit planned for Silver Springs campground near Mt. Rainier. Just east of Enumclaw we discovered that there is a project underway to chip seal Hwy 410, requiring driving on fresh gravel and a 35 mph speed limit. Needless to say, wise drivers take it slow. The rest of the morons drive at the usual 55-70, even on the gravel. I guess I can live with the gravel dings we picked up, and even the two rock chips in the pickup windshield (need to schedule that free windshield repair). Not so easy to digest is the rear side window that blew out in the AS thanks to a high-speed rock from a moron who can't read speed limit signs. Result, forfeited campground fees when we decided that going home would be wiser than a weekend with the glass-sliver dust than blew in the dining area...plus the cost of the replacement glass. So far, our local (Covington) dealer quoted $600 for a complete window assembly plus expedited shipping (so we can be running for next weekend's adventure) plus an hour labor, coming out to approx $1000. We tried to find a window that didn't need to be shipped overnight or two day and found a second option. A not local dealer (Spokane) replaces the glass ($200) plus 15 minutes labor, for at total just under $300. My math skills say that gas would run me just under $200 (barring any major Middle East warfare in the next few days) and about 12 hours of driving roundtrip. Hmmm...I've never been to Spokane before. I was impressed with the service oriented attitude of the gentleman I spoke to there. Since I believe in supporting local, I will give the local people a shot at explaining why I need the whole assembly vs. them just replacing the glass. The not-local dealer has hook-ups for overnight and requires no service appointment, and as a bonus, is near Costco for the return fill-up AND a Dutch Brothers Coffee drive-up for the return caffeine fill-up. It is a drive but I could file it under adventure if it saves $500 and gets me back in the AS next weekend.
If you are heading anywhere using Hwy 410, beware. The traffic delays might be the least of your worries.

If you live in the Pacific Northwest

Wow, thanks for the warning on 410 east of Enumclaw. We were just at Silver Springs for the 4th of July weekend. Some construction signs were in evidence at the entrance to the road from the campground, but they hadn't started the work yet. So we'll count our blessings one more time.

I had noticed that Covington does seem to charge top dollar for their work when we added a temp sensor to our battery for the Zamp solar charging system we also had them install. We've also been working with them, under warranty, to get our front storage door to seat and seal properly, though when the light is on I can still see light around the edges after I close / latch that door. I'm tempted to get my own secondary gasket as some folks here on the forum have suggested. I like the guys in Covington, though I have to admit to occasionally being a little frustrated with their service team.

Meanwhile, we'll have to keep the Spokane dealer in mind, especially if we're headed East for a trip anyway.

The Spokane dealer is fantastic. A small family run operation. Our 2003 28' lost the kitchen window somewhere in WY. We called Spokane, they ordered it, we told them when we would be there, we breezed in and had it replaced in about 20 min.

They also offer free overnight parking with power and water. Call ahead though because he keeps the power locked up, plenty of room for several trailers.

we don't but …are planning

so July 14th we left Texas…headed for the great northwest.

the trip hinges on reservations we were fortunate enough to snag….at the West Side Resort….on Orcas Island where we are thinking of relocating to see what we want to do with the rest of our life

we are now at the nine mile rec area in Spokane and preparing to leave this am on our way to wenatachee confluence state park for an overnight and then tomorrow try to weave our way thru the fire scared corridors of US 2 headed for Larrabee state park awaiting departure on the ferry to Orcas on saturday july 26…there is a detour thru the chumstick hwy i am learning of.

2500 miles so far as we leave spokane. Plans are still in flux, but after Orcas we are hanging around the port townsend/sequim area for a few days before heading to Pacific Beach state park for two days on Aug 5/6. After that we are planning a trek down the Oregon coast and heading back to Texas after labor day.

while in spokane we were treated to magnificent hospitality by our dear friends DHC-2 and his lovely bride…

the weather here is great……last time we were here 2011 labor day our home area of bastrop , tx was on fire……

geronimo……….

chevl66-likewise. It was a quick trip, but Spokane impressed me. You are lucky to have an amazing Airstream dealer for your side of the state. I'm glad I didn't tow the AS over-it made for a quicker turnaround. Our local dealer did a great job of squeezing us in on Thursday to install the glass. Their new service team is a welcome change and bodes well for the future. A happy ending and we are now enjoying the beautiful weather over here on the Olympic penninsula next to Hood Canal. Life is good again.

Has anybody ever stayed at the Log Cabin RV Resort? We have plans to stay there in August, but I'm curious if anybody can give me some feedback.
Camping and Full Hook Up RV Sites at Log Cabin Resort

I also want to chime in about the Airstream dealership in Covington. The new service team is doing a great job!

Oh, so funny you would bring up LCR. I was just reading reviews onTrip Advisor, here: Log Cabin Resort (Olympic National Park, WA) - Campground Reviews - TripAdvisor. In summary, the campground is decent, the location is amazing, local activities are great, avoid any other lodgings there until they do a serious refurb.

If you are in the area check out Salt Creek.

Salt Creek Recreation Area Photos

It's less than 10 miles from Log Cabin Resort right on the Strait of San Juan de Fuca. Be sure and stop at the General Store at Joyce,
it's a real treat.

The Lodge at Lake Crescent is worth a visit but no RV park.

I'd say to stop and ay Hi but we are in Alaska.
