I always keep a used shower curtain in my tool kit. (Yellow duck pattern optional.)
You can throw it on the ground or over your head in a light rain while you fool with your hitch or change a tire.
They make great ground covers under picnic blankets and emergency rain covers for firewood etc.
If you're boondocking (or just unlucky) you can lay damp jackets etc. on them in the sunshine.
They can be cut up and duct taped to patch stuff.
Best of all you can throw them away if they're too grungy to repack.
No big loss.

Another thing

Hi, another thing that I bring is a Mover's Blanket; When ever you need to lay on the ground, parking lot, or street its nice to have something soft and clean to lay on. Also used for covering things in back of SUV to protect from the elements and eyes of thieves.

Maurice-

I'm very interested in which AS you have and what TV you have. Your list is quite extensive and I would imagine the weight is considerable. You sure haven't left anything out!

Bring a sense of adventure, and a creative willingness to overcome any obstacle. My personal favorite is a a laptop computer and a gps. If I need something...I can find it, then I can FIND it.

oh, and be sure and bring a fresh towel. - Towlie (that parts a joke for any South Park fans)

We're going on our 'maiden voyage' with our 2002 19' Bambi this weekend. The suggestions on here have been great. I even know what most of the items are for.

So this is it. We'll either come back raving about how much we loved it or raving about how many divorce lawyers we will need.

Hi, Muddy Waters. Airstream owners can't get divorced; The judge can tell who gets the house, the car, the kids, the pets, but have never been able to decide who gets the Airstream. You better learn to just get along with each other.

I couldn't resist (playing with the picture, that is).

I have enjoyed reading and learning here.

I have been frustrated to need something and find out that I left it home when packing for the trip 'cause I felt I wouldn't need it.

I have been frustrated to come home from a trip and put a duplicate on the shelf to something I left home 'cause I didn't bring it but needed it on the trip so I bought another one.

I have been frustrated to find myself doing something the manual way instead of hooking up the drill (or whatever) because I left it home ("I can do it by hand").

I have also been amazed at how much stuff I take along and do not touch during the trip. I have been fortunate to not suffer a flat, fire, blown fuse, bad connector, terribly unlevel sites, dead batteries, power failure (such as in campgrounds), or come upon an accident in need of
help.

That being said, I do what I can ahead of time to preclude issues, and to mitigate effects from them. I have dual axles, so flats are less of a concern for me (on the trailer that is), I try to do maintenance to keep things as proper as possible, I do carry fire extinguishers and have a carbon monoxide detector on board, I do carry lots of tools (houshold as well as automotive), I have multiple flashlights on board, and I try not to ever hurry (such as setting up camp, or breaking down camp to leave). (I learned that lesson by leaving my electric plugged in one time...I was lucky I only needed a new cord cap...).

Last time out, I had to borrow a corkscrew, and it wasn't for opening engine oil...so I am glad to have friends and neighbors! It's a lovely day in the neighborhood when we're rallying.

There's a space called "classifieds" 6 tabs from the left at the top of the page, Dan. Just click on it and **viola** you're there, amongst other Avions n' Airstreams looking for new owners...

This thread's called "if only I'd thought to bring" (probably not talking about avions).

H20 Jug

Having a smaller AS, we have, when dry camping, experienced running out of fresh water. I think it is for smaller capacity tanks a good idea to carry an extra water jug and a funnel with a short (8"-12") hose attached to it to refill the fresh water tank. I once used a teapot to refill the than that probably held a quart and made about 20 trips to a spiggot in the camping area where we were.

Oreo Cookies - to throw under the trailer. They really DO keep the ants from bothering you... something I learned here!

Who always has the best stories to go with her Photos?
Well have you had this happen to you?
Well, Some of you might have guessed I have been having a few memory problems.

This is what happened to me tonight,
I went to get money,
My biggest problem at that time was how to get the game to end.

Thumbs up Out List...

We have long ago given up on an actual list.

Our rule is.....if YOU think of it..... it is up to YOU to make sure it gets packed.

"honey did you pack the finnigian frabitz"

"no"....it's been thought of so it's packed.

I don't get to say no very often.

Everytime I think of something I should have, Rusty Rivet tells me we already carry too much. I'm doomed. So I sneak it in. lol
