I 84 in Oregon

Are there any steep uphill sections, generally heading S-SE on I84 in Oregon?

There is a couple mile streacth east of Pendlelton Oregon heading into the Blue Mts. Not to bad it does switch backs, other than that not bad. Google Cabbage Hill, lots of videos on you tube

Cabbage hill and Ladd are the two worst hills on I-84 in Oregon. But if you know what your doing there not that bad.

When heading south to the desert from BC during the shoulder seasons, we generally prefer I-84 through eastern Oregon and southern Idaho. Compared to the alternative routes, the elevation is a lot lower. Elevation on Interstate highways isn't a problem for towing, but can be risky this time of year onwards for ice and snow.

The Interstate Highway System was designed for a maximum grade of 6%, with limited exceptions, so any competent tow vehicle and trailer should be fine handling I-84.

The list of exits at the bottom of this page indicates that the Blue Mountain summit between exits 238 and 243 is at elevation 4,193 feet if I am reading this right.

Maximum grade: Maximum grade is determined by a design table based on terrain and design speeds,[1] with up to 6% generally allowed in mountainous areas and hilly urban areas with exceptions for up to 7% grades on mountainous roads with speed limits below 60 mph

When we go through the mountains in West Virginia we encounter 7% grades but I don't recall the speed limit dropping in those areas. I think it stayed at 70. There are runaway truck lanes and it's a good road, but it's definitely a slow ride up. I dropped to 50 several times.
