I-70 closed

Just in case you were thinking of traveling through western Colorado along I-70 near Glenwood Springs, be forewarned...it's closed due to a huge rock slide that happened Monday. Currently there is a 200+ mile detour to get around the closure between mile markers 116 and 133.

Here's the scoop; Extensive detour, lengthy closure after I-70 rockslide

They haven't yet stated how long it will be closed - but at least several more days.

Check for updates @ CDOT.com

The pictures are pretty incredible!

Travel safe ~

Shari

That seems to be happening a lot all of a sudden. I-10 in California, I-40 in North Carolina, and now this.

Yep, wowsers is right! Good thing it happened at night - amazingly, nobody was hurt!

I don't think that giant hole in the raised roadway is going to disappear that soon!

Caduta massi!
