Smile Howdy from Bastrop,TX

Howdy y'all,

I just arrived in Bastrop,TX and before I left FL I joined Passport-America which gives you a 50% discount at over 800 campgrounds. I'm getting free local phone service(got AOL for free too), cable TV and full hookups for $12.50 per night. I'll be here until Friday morning, so I'm back!!!!!

Anyways, the trip has been going great. I pulled some nice hills in lower AL and the truck stayed in 3rd gear and maintained 55-60mph while climbing. I'm avging 12mpg on these country back roads too. I get 13mpg on the Interstate Hwy's.

The Jordan is truly awesome!!!! I was on a two-lane road in LA when a women pulled right out in front of me. I got on the brakes and the truck stopped as if the trailer wasn't even behind me. At 1st I was PO but then I started laughing because I would have nailed her if I had the Reese Brakeman. So hat's off to Maurice for the education on the brake controllers. I now pull at 60mph! Before I only pulled at 55mph because I didn't trust the Reese. Towing is now fun and I'm really loving it!!!

I hope all are well-John

Sounds like yer havin' a ball!

Just to make you feel good, we woke up to ZERO temperature this morning! Can't wait till this weather breaks. The cabin fever is horrible this year. It is times like this, that I regret switching jobs. My old job gave me, 4 weeks vacation, now I am down to 2, for 4 more years. But, the retirement benefits will be well worth it in the end.

Passport-America

Eric,

The web site is www.passport-america.com

They show all of the campgrounds that will give you a discount. I'm finding that alot of them are new campgrounds trying to drum up business.

For my 1st 6 nights on the road, I spent a total of $56.60 and this includes 2 nights at Mystic Springs for $8.92.

Pick,

Spring is just around !!
