That's a good point, Don. So many of the new bridges are not only ugly, but then they install high Jersey walls so you won't be tempted to enjoy the view.

Looks to be a rather scary crossing if one looks down.

Heard on Las Vegas news it should be open by November? Who knows for sure.
Am thinking will give it a couple of months of trucks and cars going over it before trying it? See if anything shakes loose.

Here we are the other day crossing the Tacoma Narrows bridge across Puget Sound outside of Tacoma, Washington. The bridge on the left is brand new, the one we're on is the second try; the first bridge blew down.Tacoma Narrows Bridge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

No one was killed in that bridge deconstruct, though there was a dog that had a story for the pups. There is a urban legend about the insurance agent that figured the bridge would never go down and used the money for other things.

Annette & I are flying out this month to meet family in Vegas. We are going to drive over to see the dam and post some pic's. Anyone know of a good lunch place away from the strip and on the way?

Hi- If you go through 'downtown' in Boulder City you'll see one block that has many outside tables to sit and have lunch. I don't remember the exact name of the resturant (sidewalk cafe) but you cant miss it as it's on the left side of the only street going through town, about one block before the big park.

Joe- Once you're in Boulder City, to get to the dam you'll have a choice to turn left at the only red light in town but if you go straight through the light the sidewalk cafe is around another mile or so on the left.

Hi Bill,

Can we see vehicles already parked up there working on it?? I thought the first one would be an airstream?

Here's progress as of 05-31-2010. When looking up from street level below, it looks like foot trafic could now cross all the way. I'm guessing there is no actual road surface yet.
