Driven over the dam many times on the way to Las Vegas, never stopped in the area. There is not much on the Arizona side until you get to Kingman. Boulder City would be the closest area. Wish I could be of more help.

I just went on Woodalls.com. There are several near Boulder City. canyon Trail RV Park looks pretty god for 30 bucks. Their phone is 702-293-1200. Also Lake Meade RV Village at 702-293-2540. I have never stayed at eith, but they look pretty good on Woodalls.

We've visited the Lake Meade RV park. Did not stay there, but it seemed very nice. Jack

How about this?

I searched for dry camping Hoover Dam, Boulder City. I'd noticed from your other posts you aren't afraid of Boondocking

Yes, you can camp at the National Rec Area. Take Hwy 93 out of Boulder City toward the dam. You will crest a hill and start a decent towards the lake. Near the bottom of the decent, take Hwy 166 going to the north. Go roughly 2.5 miles and the camping area will be on the right. Fair warning, it is going to be hot so try to pick a spot with afternoon shade on the trailer. The last time we camped there (about 6 years ago), the CG was in rough condition and seemed to lack maintenance, but it did have spaces available with E/W hookups.

We camped in the Lake Mead National Rec campground described by Bob Thompson last Feb. Excellent sites with large flat pull thru and adjacent to the lake. On the Arizona side, there is river bank camping about five miles from the dam, in the general area of the homeland security inspection station.

Rodney, check to see if you can drive over the dam with a trailer. It was difficult to get through overzealous security several years ago and many people drove around it going through Searchlight.

We had no problem driving over the Dam with our Safari in 2004. However, there was a check point some distance from the Dam in which security wanted to look inside the trailer.

Can't wait for the bypass bridge to be completed in 2009.

Glad to hear that Bill. I read that when there was a lot of traffic, security refused to look at anything and would turn around SUV's with a lot of stuff in them and I'm sure trailers were the same. The whole thing seemed to be totally arbitrary. I'm not sure whether I read it in 2004, before that or after. It could have been long before since we've avoided that area since.

Now the Hoover Dam websites say RV's can cross, but have to be inspected and seem to indicate they can turn you around if they want to.

The website says the bypass project will be completed in 2010, but I didn't check to see if the bridge would be open beforehand.

We drove over it last year (2007) with no issues or problems. They looked inside the Airstream and sent us on our way. If I remember correctly, they would let RV's go thru but semi's had to drive around.

we ended up at a concessionaire run site right on the lake just inside the park. Crossing the dam was no problem other than congestion, the guy went inside for a look and I was on my way.
