Honda EU2000i Generator at Sams Club

Found this this morning at my local Sams Club. I'm really tempted to buy one of these.

Best price I have seen recently. Is that plus sales tax?

After paying a typical 7.5% sales tax its about a $34 savings over online ordering at $999 with free shipping and no sales tax.

WHOA THERE!

Tax exempt IF the items you buy are "For Resale". If you're using them yourself, you should pay taxes. And YES you CAN get away with saying "everything is for resale" for years.

The problem is that if you own a business, your STATE will do an audit on your business from time to time. They DO check sales tax you paid religiously - if you buy over the internet and aren't charged your state's sales tax, (and you fail to notice that tax wasn't charged so you don't mail a check to the state) they will collect it - and consider that you made an honest mistake by overlooking it.

If you simply evade paying sales tax by declaring that it's for sale, that does not amuse the person doing the audit. Our company has been audited 4 or 5 times in the last 15 years, and our receipts always show a mix of taxed and non-taxed goods. That alone gives the auditor the idea that we are at least trying to file an honest return (taxes are so confusing we worry whether we're doing it right even with a CPA advising us.)

Our typical taxable items are sliced spiral hams, cakes, etc., which are used for operator parties - and obviously we don't "sell" the toilet paper we buy.

The Honda EU2000i are about the best and quietest generators you can get for the size and capacity. Very clean power, suitable for running computers, as well. The 2000 is not at all likely to be enough to start (nor run, perhaps) your Airstream AC, which brings up the subject of the i2000 Companion generator, which is designed to work on its own OR paired with the primary i2000. Combined, the two of them will run one AC unit.

If you go with a single, higher capacity generator, you may be very discouraged by difficulty of handling the size and weight of a single higher capacity unit, that's why so many people go with two smaller ones... easier to manage and one can be a back-up unit to the other.

Are two EU2000s running together in companion mode noisier than a Honda Handi 3000w generator?

I would think so... never compared them, though. Hopefully someone who has compared will chime in.

I don't think I would boondock anywhere that I needed air conditioner. I would like to have one to power the coffee maker, toaster and recharge the batteries.
I would also prefer the one with the 30amp outlet but not sure it is worth and extra $200.
Wonder if Sams is a authorized Honda dealer.

firstwave... I agree, if I'm going to boondock, I would do so where and when the climate is relatively pleasant - not too hot, nor too cold, not requiring AC.

A single EU2000i will easily keep your batteries charged and provide enough juice to run your coffee maker and toaster. I think having one of these generators along for the ride, anytime you might boondock, is a very wise move.

Two of them running together are very quiet and do a great job with AC.If you shop online you will find them for about the same with no sales tax.

Debating mentally ...Honda vs Yahama. Both have great reputations, both 2000's can be parelled. Yesterday a online add advertised the Yahama for $869, very tempting. I initially was all Honda but the Yahama has two features I really like, larger fuel tank & a fuel shut off so you can cut the fuel supply while the genarator is still running emptying the carburetor thus preventing stale fuel from gumming it up.

Anybody know about how long one of these would run (if converted) on 20# of propane?
