Long summer trip to Moab Part 3. Amarillo to Adrian

We departed Amarillo bound for Durango. The sights were beautiful. It was a great drive.
First thing out of the city limits of Amarillo is the "Cadillac Ranch".

Thousands of miles on this trip and we only saw this scene once. I wonder how much revenue has been lost when the speed limits were raised from 55mph to 70mph?

As I was passing this Trooper I was glad I was in Texas and not towing through Florida. Rich can tell you all about towing in Orlando, FL.

You didn't see the Texas play while you were in Palo Duro?! Do they even still have it? I've seen it 3 times starting when I was 8 and that lightening strike got me every time.

No we didn't see the play. I've heard it is a great thing to see. Maybe next time.

Absolutely beautiful photo journal Lance. It's like I'm on the trip with you. I can almost feel the heat coming off my screen when I look at those shots of all the dry grass.
The views of the flat plains reminds me of a joke we have here about Saskatchewan and the praries.
When your dog runs away it takes three days. LOL.

Keep the pics coming Lance i'm loving it.

Long summer trip to Moab Part 3.3

Sometimes there is a lot of beauty to see in what most would describe as nothing. If you have ever lived in Europe, you'd appreciate the splendor of the space. Sometimes there is so much to see in nothing.
If you can get away with driving a pink Hummer...cool

An early/mid 1960's Streamline. All aluminum cabinetry. My grandparents had a 27' of that era.

1964 Interior

Sure like the photo with the trailer in the side rearview . . that may be a better sight than any other. I'm not at work rollin' this highway!!

Long summer trip to Moab Part 3.4 US 550

US 550 from Bernalillo, NM to Durango, CO is one of the most scenic highways we've ever traveled. There is a whole lot of nature. Not much else.

Long summer trip to Moab Part 4 Durango, CO to Mancos, CO.

Well, after our first night in the Walmart parking lot, I called around to all the RV parks to see if any spots were available. None. All full. I wanted to spend a day in Durango, but not having hook ups was a deal killer. So I called up the KOA in Cortez and secured a spot. After some shopping a Walmart and some shopping cart basketball we were back on the road.
