Home from Canada

We had a great 2000+ miles trip..but too fast. Our friends we were travlin
with had a time consideration. But we had good weather until Lake Louise
when heavy rain turned to snow so we turned around. Our first camp was
at beautiful May Creek out of Wisdom, Mt. then on to Glacier and Apgar camp
ground. Our friends were in a Rialta mt. hm. so they headed on up going to
the sun rd. and we went around. We had been up before a couple times when we owned a Rialta. The trip around was beautiful but when you got near St.
Marys you were in a area that had a huge burn...how sad. We were only ten
min. ahead of our friends and it was off to Waterton, a little smokey but lovely. We were serenaded by a bagpiper by the lake. On through Kananaska
which is so awesome! We wanted to have lunch at the golf course but they
were closed for a special function however we had another seranade fr a bagpiper. In Banff we had a visit from a huge Elk whose bugle was echoing from the hills.Magnificent! WE got good pictures as well. Breakfast at the
Chateau Lake Louise was fantastic but no view of the Lake for our friends
so now they have to go back and I am sure they will as they have to oooh
and ahhh their way up to Jasper. Came back via Northern Id. and ended up
at of all places Owyhee Canyon St. Park. It is beautiful but a very winding
narrow rd. with steep drop offs..not my favorite. Home looked good and
we are having a little snow in the Mts here as well. Off to Steamboat in a
week or so to put away the Sheepcamp and Tipi. Happy Trails, John & Betty
PS... We had sooooo many folks staring at our little Quicksilver and we love
it more & more each trip.

Good report Betty! Thanks for ideas on routes to travel. 20+ years ago when there still was a Trans-Canada RR, we arrived at Chateau Lake Louise to a bagpiper playing during Sunday high tea.

We'd accept elk photos in the Forums too!

I don't think she would be allowed to post the pictures of the pipers with no kilts.

We went to Glacier,Banff, Jasper, Columbia Ice Fields, a few years ago. We spent 4 weeks doing it and of course we would love to do it again. Love that blue water.
