I'll be watching this thread with interest as we plan to go this winter south to The Lafayette area in Louisiana, then work our way east over to Florida and down towards Sarasota - Venice.

I'm sure you know about Topsail Hill State Park near Destin. We stopped there once a few years back and were very impressed - we will try to stop there again on our next trip.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

We live about three miles from Tops'l State Park RV Park. I will second that recommendation. It is one of the nicest RV parks, public or private, that I have ever seen or camped in. The campground is actually located in Santa Rosa Beach, which is about ten miles east of main Destin. There is a lot to see and do in this area.

Moving west, the Biloxi/Gulfport area has a lot to do and see. There are several nice campground down by the ocean. Go on Woodalls, RV Parks - RV Camping & Campgrounds and take a look.

Destin to New Orleans...
Thats about the same as Dallas to El Paso...a bare waistland

Their is so much to do, i don't think there is enough room here for that distance.
So many museams, landmarks...the mind boggles
