Hitting the road check list

Work on the Bubble is progressing to the point that I can actually start thinking about hitting the road.
This is my first RV of any type and wonder if there is a check list of do's for leaving. I also realize that it's going to be specialized for each trailer but is there a sort of generic check list?"

One thing I've discovered is that checklists are highly personal. I read all the suggestions (and the Owners Manual), then wrote up my own version and had it laminated.

One side says "ARRIVAL" and the other side says "DEPARTURE". We just leave it on the countertop and refer to it as needed.

The checklists don't cover absolutely everything that we need to do, just the things that are easy to forget and/or very important. This keeps us from the dumb mistakes, like driving off over the chocks, or with a window open, or the water pump on.

Think about the things like that and put them on your personal checklist. You'll find that after a few trips you come up with more items, so plan on revising the checklist periodically.

And if you laminate that Arrival and Departure checklist, you can actually mark them off when done, using a grease pencil, or dry marker board pen. Using a dry cloth for the grease pencil, or a slightly damp one for the other, the checks can be erased, giving you a 'clean' sheet for the next time!

The Inventory Page claims to be a full-timers checklist (in a Bubble?!?!), but pay special note to the advisory at the bottom -- "Once you have it all loaded up, weigh your rig." Perspective is good.

From these forums we have:
If only I'd thought to bring....

Emergency parts

Check Lists

Between-trip maintenance?

And not far off the question -- Spring preparation for travel season

RL's advice above is good -- customize it for yourself and how far from home and help you'll be. I've got spring fever so-o-o bad!

checklist

Yes, I am one of those folks with a flat forehead - from smacking - "why didn't I think of that?" I completely forgot about searching the archives.
Thanks again for the good advice - I'm "on it" as the kids say.

Aww, Jo Ann -- be cool and continue looking forward to your adventure.

I've got my own system for saving posts of interest to me as I browse. No, I'm not going to do searches for every question that is raised on these boards! I don't know what key words would have taken you to the most useful threads.

Mebbe we could be like Google and popularize our threads by kickbacks to Organic Hosting.... Andy is truly sacrificing for our shiny-shelled good. I only recall one solicitation for a major upgrade to these forums in the last year. Thank you Andy -- we are subscribers and please ask for our support as you see fit!!
