Highway 30 (Idaho, Wyoming)

Has anyone tried this? You can get on near Pocatello ID and it comes out at Little America, WY on I-80. I've been told that the truckers use it a lot and it will save hours instead of going down into Utah near Salt Lake City. Not sure I like the idea of taking one of the "little red roads" thought.

Get a truckers (Motor Carriers) atlas. It will show the trucking routes.

We've done it, good road, great scenery! Nice State Park at Bear Lake.

Nice Drive

Great Break from interstate driving.

Stop and see Fossil Butte National Monument. It is right off the highway.

A neat, safe drive is 34 north of Soda Springs over the hill to 89 and south to Montpelier. That's sheep country and in the fall they drive the flocks down the hill. We were stuck in one such movement and saw our first "Great Pyreness" dog traveling in the middle of the flock with Aussies and Border Collies keeping the flock in step with only hand-signals from the Basque herders. The Pyreness live with the sheep and are called "The Protectors". Pretty side-trip!
