Hightailing it to NE Georgia...

We (wife and grandkids) are off to NE Georgia (Helen area) to escape the heat here in SW FL tomorrow. Still rolling around in a shell, but with a new air conditioner, Marmolium flooring and a fresh coat of Zolatone, the coach smells like a new rig, and looks great. My interior consists of curtains...

We made several trips in our "aluminum tent". We had fun and it also made us appreciate our Airstream even more once we had it finished. Have fun. We are headed over that way a little later this summer ourselves.

nothing wrong with an 'aluminum tent'...if it has air! while Helen GA is a bit north of here don't be surprised when you find that it is still hot and muggy when you arrive.

our trailer is the complete opposite of yours...we have everything but air so no camping for us

enjoy your trip...the Chattahoochee is lots of fun to float down!

The weather forecast for the Helen area looks great for the next week. Highs in the low 80's, lows in the 60's. Rain forecast for just about every day but will be showers and not last long. You picked a great time of the year to be in the GA mountains.

Be sure to go to Top of Georgia As park just a few miles north of Helen on ga 75 if you are a WBCCI member. They may let you stay a night even if you are not a member. The place is owned by the Georgia unit of WBCCI, great people. 7 dollars a night. Not a resort but very nice with a creek and shade. Google top of Georgia. Jim

Talking

We are planning on staying @ Top of Georgia for the first time during the 4th. We visited while we camped near Helen about a month ago, very friendly people and beautiful campground.

Driving back from Helen, stayed at the Suwanee River State Park last night. It rained a lot, but very beautiful country. Not too many mishaps, a tire that decided to deflate via the valve stem over nite at camp, and some water intrusion through the front window while driving through rain. You might be leak proof while standing still, but while in motion, it's a different deal. Saw couple of AS sightings, and one Argosy (70's) that was next to us at Suwanee SP. I will post pics when I get home.
