High clearance Airstreams

If you look closely at the movies of Wally's caravan in Africa and some in Asia, you will notice that the trailers and trucks have extra clearance. I think they modified the trailers by putting some blocks under the frame and then mounted the axles to the blocks. That put the damageable parts up a few inches. Looks like some of the trucks were special also as they forded some fairly deep streams. I would not think it would take much to install a few steel box sections under the frame to give you some extra clearance. New axles with higher spring rate and more offset is also a possibility if you are going to replace the axles on a short older unit and you love the back country. I do not know whether I would go with one axle units or two but I would keep the length at 25 foot or less. I saw an ad for a special off road Trailer that was towed by a Hummer 1 that looked pretty neat.
