I spent some time in Lubec a few years ago and loved it. Campobello FDR summer home, light house at Quoddy Head, watching the tide run in and out, eating pancakes at Franks Dock side cafe with fresh blueberrys,

So far on "the rock" we have become honorary newfoundlanders by kissing cod and doing shots of screech (rum). Also played a round of golf on a beautiful course. Click image for larger version

Hi there - how’s the trip going so far? You must be on the Northern Peninsula by now. If so you have driven over many fantastic salmon fishing rivers. Hopefully the caravan has allowed you some time to wet a line?

We are heading out with the Airstream in two weeks. Maybe our paths will cross (they kind of have to as there is only one highway[emoji5])

We are at the top in St Anthony. Internet is spotty and very slow. We made a side trip to Red Bay Labrador via the ferry, but left the trailer on the island. A few random pictures. Click image for larger version

That’s the Point Amour Lighthouse, built be Scottish masons in the 1850’s from limestone sourced at site. Around the corner from there is the wreck of the HMS Raleigh, flagship of the North Atlantic and West Indies, which ran aground in 1922. The Captain was court marshalled for negligence and dishonourably discharged. Interesting story in that for several years after the wreck passenger liners of the day would often detour to make passage through the Straits on the voyage to London so the passengers could see and photograph the famous wreck. Fed up with the continuing newspaper photos of the embarrassment the Royal Navy sent warships over and blew the wreck to smithereens.

The caravan has made it to La Scie, a beautiful town on the north shore of the island. The town is excited that we are here and they greeted us with song and treats last night.Click image for larger version
