I guess we are all assuming the Docent is paid and not a volunteer? I do know even volunteers are expect to represent the organization properly and professionally, but my tolerance level is increased greatly know that the individual is their because of their love of the subject.

While I couldn't care less about her personal opinion, it does seem odd that she'd express it so rudely, but I've said things I regretted before.

What's weird is that she's a docent at the Dymaxion House, an aluminum skin-and-rib constructed dwelling intended, if memory serves, to be semi-portable, yet she hates mobile aluminum skin-and-rib travel trailers. "Cognitive dissonance" comes to mind.

I strongly suspect she actually likes them and is very intrigued.I also strongly suspect, when younger her admiration was crushed by a stronger influence who told her to think that way she now does.

I'm amazed someone at the Henry Ford museum would be against an affordable item being towed by a vehicle that many people can afford, which is a situation only possible because of the production capabilities made popular in automotive building by HENRY FORD!

She somehow doesn't understand the connection between the achievements of Henry Ford and the realities of today (traffic would be a second example). She doesn't see the cause-and-effect relationship. That's disappointing for a museum docent; I thought museums were all about trying to tie history into the current reality for visitors.

Some people simply hate RVs. I've been stuck behind people that shouldn't be allowed to drive a pedal car, much less a truck towing a travel trailer of any kind, so I understand that part of the rude comment.

As for the comment itself, rest assured someone has almost certainly reported the comment to management.

Sour grapes.....

I grew up around my dad and older brothers who had very strong opinions about all sorts of stuff - took me years to wash some of that attitude out

It's unappealing really - sour grapes

Amazing comments from people who are supposed to facilitate enjoyment and learning! Now, with regard to "people size" and Concorde. While running my company's European operation from 93-95 I had an opportunity to fly Concorde twice (LHR-JFK and JFK-LHR). On neither flight were there more than around 60 people in either cabin. I don't think anyone had a seat mate, so while the seats were small, everyone had two. Believe it or not, there were never carts in the aisle, either. They were too narrow for that, so everything was brought to your seat on a silver tray. This was BA, I don't know if AF had the same cabin service. Quite a thrill to go from London to NY in 3 1/2 hours!

I guess I am bewildered by the Docent's comments. I always remember the old saying....If you don't have anything good to say, then don't say it.
