Help finding an RV site close to the Grand Canyon

Help…Looking for someone who is familiar with the area around the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. We are traveling in mid July and oddly enough can’t find any space in the National Parks Campgrounds in the area. My bad, last minute thing. Anyway does anyone have suggestions regarding either state or private campgrounds that are not too far from the North Rim? I appreciate any input.

Re: DeMotte NFS Campground - North Rim, Grand Canyon National Park

We have stayed here, without reservations. There are usually one or two sites available even on peak holiday weekends. However, you can improve your chances of getting a site by arriving early in the day.

Note: Cut and paste GPS coordinates into Google Earth to see exact location, which is about 16 miles north of the North Rim Visitors Center/Hotel/Campground complex.

==========

DeMotte NFS Campground - North Rim, Grand Canyon National Park

North Kaibab Ranger District Office
430 Main Street
Fredonia, AZ 86022
928-643-7395

GPS: 36° 24.639'N 112° 8.040'W

38 single family campsites accommodate trailers, small motor homes and tent campers. Graded dirt interior roads and parking pads are a few hundred feet from paved highway. Most sites have partial shade, but trees are widely spaced. Also, sites are mostly level, but some may require leveling blocks. Pit toilets and water spigots available, but no hookups or dump station.

Usually open May 1 to October 15. However, exact dates vary depending on weather conditions.

19 sites are first-come, first-served; and the remainder can be reserved online at Website below, or via phone at 1-877-444-6777.

Camping fee: $18/night; half-price with Senior Pass (age 62 and older: America the Beautiful - National Parks Senior Pass). Also, admission to Grand Canyon National Park is free with the Senior Pass.

Info on North Rim campgrounds: Campgrounds - North Rim - Grand Canyon National Park (U.S. National Park Service)

Reservations: Facility Details - DEMOTTE, AZ - Recreation.gov

Rv spots

I stayed here a few weeks ago. About 40 minutes from north rim Gate but a pretty drive. Not many options around there

There are some boon docking sites on the rim. I think you may find them in the thread "Cheap or Free in Arizona"

RV at Grand Canyon

There are boondocking sites near Lees Ferry/Marble Canyon Lodge, that's down in the canyon at riverside, This where river trips begin for the shorter Glen Canyon run is available for fishing, sightseeing or boating. Access is from the north rim

Williams is a long drive from North Rim, don't you think? Kaibab Kamper Village in Jacob Lake gets my vote- if you can't get into the NP campground. There are many scenic forest service roads in the area and places to camp- if you're willing to bounce a little and get dusty.
