Thumbs up Hello from Intercourse

Intercourse, PA that is
We're at the Beacon Hill CG Beacon Hill Camping - Intercourse, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
and enjoying Amish Country for 4 days. Did the Shmorgesbord thing for lunch today and had a great meal. (At some point, I'll learn self-control). Saurkraut & pork, bbq chicken, glazed carrots, steamed broccoli & caleflower, fresh salad, apple pie (sugar free), fresh warm bread, ham balls, corn fritters and more and more and more.
Scenery is beautiful now that the clouds have parted and the rain has stopped. The area is having their Amish Heritage Festival this weekend (we lucked into this) and they had an outstanding fireworks presentation after dark tonite. The CG provided an Ice Cream Social and Popcorn.
The CG is moderate sized and the hosts are some of the friendliest folks you'll ever meet. Under 16 not allowed. Pet friendly (even have their own fenced dog park). $33/nite for full hookups (20 & 30 amp). LOTS of return RV'ers here. They seem to come 2-3 times a year. Very nice camp store, laundry facilities.
We'll be back.
From here we head to Williamstown WV for the art glass factory tour, then on to Milton WV for another art glass factory tour, then on to the shaker village at Mt. Pleasant KY then on to Spirit Lake IA. I wish gas prices were back to where they were last year but like they say, 'If wishes were horses, beggars would ride'.

With a heading like that, I just had to read. So what's in Spirit Lake, Iowa? I used to go through there every fourth of July with my family as I was growing up on the way to the Iowa Great Lakes (East & West Okaboji for those who are not familiar).

Why, Brad... Arnold's Park, of course!

And don't forget the University of Okiboji!

1. We haven't seen any of the AS buggies but if we do, I'M GETTING PICS, so people won't think I'm crazy.
2. We're meeting up with SIL and BIL at Spirit Lake. Never been there before but have heard about University of Okiboji and we'll be sure to catch a few classes while were there. . BIL works for Coleman Camping and they have a huge truckload sale out there every year and this was as good an excuse as any to go

You'll be in Bourbon Country. Great chance to visit a distillery. I can vouch for Maker's Mark not far from Bardstown, KY. Worth the trip!

BTW, gas prices were on average about $1.50 per gallon higher this time last year....so I'm personally not wishing along with you.

We finish with Intercourse tomorrow morning

and by that I mean, we head west toward Wild West Virginia. First stop is in Williamstown at the Fenton Art Glass Factory, then on to Milton WV for the Blenko Glass Factory.
But I digress. While in Intercourse, we've sampled the Schmorgasbord (detailed in post #1), purchased some home baked goodies (Cheddar Cheese Bread and Strawberry Jam) delivered to the CG and sold to the RV'ers by a local Amish girl, shopped our way through a number of Quilt/Fabric stores (where I dutifully occupied the 'husbands' chair), visited 2 Farmers Markets, approximately 14 Antique Shops, the Harley Davidson Final Assembly plant in York PA, stocked up with eggs, milk, and assorted other goodies at the local grocery store and saw some beautiful countryside.
I'll update as we go west.

Y'all know the tune so sing out or just whistle along!!!

Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.
Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again.

Some trails are happy ones,
Others are blue.
It's the way you ride the trail that counts,
Here's a happy one for you.

Happy trails to you, until we meet again.
Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then.
Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather.

Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again.
