Headn' North to get trailer, I hope

Well this Sunday I plan to head towards Jackson Center to pick up my trailer. I expect to make it to Northern Kentucky or Southern Ohio the first day. Then head on into Jackson Center Mid Monday.

Weather will be a big factor. The long term forecast right now looks iffy. I expect to be able to get there but leaving will be another story.

They pulled my trailer into the shop this afternoon. They are going to de-winterize tomorrow and test all water lines and the pump. I hope to leave Monday Afternoon or Tuesday Morning.
I will be heading to my sisters in Virginia to pick up some stuff for my house in Montana. I will head down I-95 back to my sisters. I will not be in a hurry. That's how accidents happen.

Updates as they are available.

I'm 40 miles South of Jackson Center. We just got about 10" of snow and ice. The schools have been closed in JC. There is supposed to be a short warm up the next day or so,but It probably will not get rid of much. At this writing Roads local are pretty bad. The Interstates that U will be traveling are in pretty good shape, although there was a traffic stoppage for about 4 hrs south of us today because of the ice on the interstate.

We want to hear about a VERY UNEVENTFUL trip when you get her home. I mean it has to be sooo boring that you hardly care to share it... lol

Congrats on getting her back

As another Ohio resident, that has been without electricity for the past day and a half, I can only emphsize what others have said. Roads are a mess, ice caked on them and it isn't melting. It's like driving on a washboard in places. The high today was 25 and I don't know what comes next. Our Television has been out for three days. There have been no schools in session in southern Ohio for the past two and three days.

Be very careful as I know you will be. It isn't your driving skills that I question. My wife is an excellent driver but she had no options when the pick up came around the curve too fast, on snow and slush, and slammed on his brakes and skidded head on into her car....destroying her auto and .....anyway, you know what I mean. Good luck and best wishes for a great year of 'streaming.

Judy,
It will just be me and Daisy to pick up the trailer. Not sure how the schedule is going to go. I am going to play it by ear. My nephew may having given me his bug. I was taking care of him yesterday and my Niece who has the same thing a couple days before. I will see how I feel Saturday night.
I am hoping to see you on my way west....

I am sticking to the interstates with the exception of the last 5 miles to JC.
I am watching the weather channel right now and it looks like doing this later this week would be a better choice.

I live in just south of Cincinnati - I would postpone the trip for a few days if you don't have to have the trailer.
Things are moving here but I would hate to tow a trailer right now. Our power was off for 36 hours and were are slowly getting back to normal life. There was a lot of snow/ice/snow here. The trees are beautiful as they are covered in ice and falling over the power lines......
Good Luck

I talked to JC yesterday. They are open and fine. Schools close when the side roads are bad. The road from I-75 to JC is not longer a secondary road. There is a Honda Motor plant right down the road and another auto manufacturer motor plant further down the same road.

I had planned to leave JC head back down I-75 to I-64 and head east to my sisters. That plan looks bad right now

I have a full set of chains for the truck and trailer. I am not planning on using them except in an emergency.

Montana to Jackson Center is one long haul. What was the reason, warranty work?

I was on my way east to visit friends and family. When I got hit.

Good news. State Farm is going after the Police department for the cost of the repairs. The other good news is I canceled my policies with State Farm today. I now have new insurance for all my vehicles.

Be careful on your trip,

Truck and trailer will need to been washed as you head South to remove the salt spray.

This has been one crazy winter.

Well I leave in the morning. We will see how far I get tomorrow. I am hoping within 3 hours of JC. That would put me around Cincinatti.(sp?)

The truck is "packed", Generator, Tool box, Air compressor, Survival equipment(sleeping bag, tent, sleeping pad), Freeze dried food, first aid kit, Satellite rescue beacon, etc.

Updates when I stop tomorrow evening.
