Heading west on I80 and looking for good overnight places to camp
I've stayed at many KOAs in the past but if you have any good recommendations for overnight stops in Iowa, Nebraska and Wyoming down I80, please let me know. Just looking for great places along the way while heading out west. Thanks.

It is quite curious that you should ask. Tonight we are camped at the Hall County Park RV park in Grand Island, Nebraska. It is about four miles off of I-80, but it is most definitely worth the short run.
We have over 1,900 nights of Airstream camping, and this is the nicest campground that we have ever seen. It is $20 a night and electric only (both 30 and 50 amp). You can fill up with fresh water on the way in.
Here is a picture of Lucy and Lillian at their campsite tonight.

If your timing puts you near Fort Bridger, WY over Labor Day weekend, the Mountain Man Rendezvous is a treat to see. There is a KOA in Lyman not too far away.

Moosetags' post reminded me that much of I-80 through Nebraska is running parallel to the Platte River, and they've got a slew of state parks and state recreation areas with campgrounds on its banks. I haven't stopped at any (I've always driven through Nebraska in a day) but they looked nice when passing them at 75 MPH.
There's an interactive map at https://maps.outdoornebraska.gov/Parks/ that you can filter by Camping (see the upper left).

Thanks Moosetags and Mojo. I may follow your path up 25 towards Casper once I'm in Wyoming.

Just curious how far west are you coming? California and Oregon have terrible fires right now and many roads are closed, along with some parks (Yosemite is closed for example). Washington State seems to be doing pretty well...

The I80 corridor is long and places to stay can be a long way apart.
The best RV park on I80 is the New Frontier RV Park in Winnemucca NV. It is a Passport America park, so it should be a great rate. The facilities are new and quite nice. The area is desert, so gravel is the norm, but the trees are coming along nicely.
The KOA in Lyman closes for the Winter, which means you have to roll on to Evanston, which has a shortage of RV parks. Phillips is a nice park, but there is a truck depot behind, an overpass, and a train track for good measure. Get a site in front. You deal with street noise, but it's better than the nice sites at the rear. Note, the Phillips park closes for the Winter as well, but somewhat later than the KOA. If you miss all there is a Walmart, but it fills chockablock with trucks, so take care.
We have never stayed in Rock Springs, but stopping there may be better than moving on down the road.
Rawlings, WY has a KOA and two other RV parks. Western Hills Campground, Red Desert Rose Campground and Rawlins KOA. Western Hills is a very big gravel parking lot, but it is sheltered from the highway noise and makes a good overnight stop. Normally we would use the KOA, but a quiet night after a lot of miles makes a big difference and we appreciate quiet over a nice park. If anyone has different experience, we'd appreciate the info.
Sidney NE has a Cabellas that's worth a stop.
North Platte, NE has the Holliday RV park. It's tight, but the sites in back shield the highway noise. Ask for discounts.
From there East we usually travel either more North or a bit South. Will follow the info that folks recommend for future reference.
Good Luck on your trip. Pat

Riverside RV Park in Kemmerer WY is pretty nice. You can watch the deer on the nearby hillside morning or evening. Near Fossil Butte National Monument and a couple of places where you can chip out your own fossils from the old seabed.

I 80 Camping
We have stopped several times at the KOA on the east side of Cheyenne, and always found it to be very satisfactory.
While in Nebraska, east of Ogallala, is the small town of Paxton. If passing through anytime around meal time, it's worth the short detour downtown to eat at Ole's Big Game Steakhouse. Great Nebraska beef, and the decor is, well, unique.

Exit 237 Tiffin Iowa F Kent County Park is a gem. $20 electric sites. They have drained and are repairing the lake, so it's pretty empty. The sites are not on the lake so it doesn't make a difference for an overnight.
Rock Springs KOA is a running joke for us. It's a gravel parking lot. Most KOAs have traffic , train or airplane noise. This has traffic and train noise PLUS a view of giant oil tanks.
Lyman, WY KOA is small, quiet, very nice.
Buffalo Bill Ranch State Park in Nebraska also has nice electric only sites.
Lake Ogallala State Recreation is another beauty.

Burning Man is the last week in August. Just north of Reno, Nevada. I would confirm your tickets first. Little Truckee River has campgrounds all along it North of Truckee, CA. No fires there right now.

Just a few miles off I80 near Iowa City
If you bike, Sugar Bottom Campground is a lot of fun. Camp sights are nice, they have a beach and off road (mountain) bike trails that are a ton of fun.

Eugene Mahoney State Park in Ashland, Nebraska I-80 exit 426 and the Platter River State Park also at the same exit. We live 25 miles from both parks and spend a lot of time there. http://outdoornebraska.gov/stateparks/
