Heading to Quartzsite...?

Outside of Joshua Tree now, going to spend another night here and then head out to Quartzsite. Anyone have any tips for BLM land to hang out on for a few days? Not into driving down dodgy roads but I found a nice little spot here outside of the Park (Cottonwood campground, thumbs down!) that's nice and the dirt road is firm and fairly smooth and not scary.
Also any tips for food there? Want to get some really good (cheap) Mexican food since we're so close to the border, maybe a few souvenirs, rocks, etc.
Will try to get online tomorrow to check feedback, might spend the night at the KOA in Blythe and fill up with water, use the wifi (if it actually works), laundry etc.

There are four or five Airstreamers we know who are camped in Quartzsite together right ScrapIrony-2 (Mike) here on the forums for more information on where they are, etc... They spend their winters there...

Quartzsite is an interesting experience....everyone should give it a try at least once...
