Heading north with stop at "funky" Floyd, VA

Have heard much hype about a little place called Floyd, VA and wondering if anyone might have recommendations re how long to plan to stay; what to do & where to stay in or around this "funky" little town. Should be arriving in that area in 2 to 3 weeks. Thanks.

Floyd is a very small town and there is not a lot to see or do there. Unless they are having a festival or maybe friday and sat night. Floyd is 18 miles from Va Highland Haven Airstream Park. So that would be one interesting place to stay. It also is not very far to the Music Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are a couple of shops and a hardware store and a diner in downtown Floyd that are sorta neat. And a local guy that makes nice furniture. But mostly Floyd is about the festivals, I think. It is a nice area and worth a few days. I have not been to Floyd during one of the music festivals so I do not really know the attraction. There are several interesting shops and restaurants in the area around Floyd but you sorta have to look for them. Roanoke is fairly close to the Airstream park and offers a wealth of restaurants, shopping, etc

When we visited Floyd there were a number of BBQ stands which smelled wonderful. However we went 20 miles east to Bent Mountain Bistro and had wonderful food and atmosphere.

Virginia Highland Haven is an Airstream only park about 15 miles outside of Floyd. As others have already mentioned Floyd is a cute and fun town. I recommend staying at Virginia Highland Haven and make sure that you go into Floyd on Friday night. Friday nights are when the music comes alive in Floyd. Their are Blue Grass bands playing on street corners. The General Store moves its merchandise aside so that people can dance and it features a different Blue Crass band each week. Floyd, VA is on the "Crooked Road" a music venue, Google "The Crooked Road" it to find out more. In addition to being a cute town the scenery and landscape around Floyd is fabulous. Enjoy, it's a special place and VHH is a friendly place where the seasonal owners are helpful will tell you what to do and see.
