Where are you staying?
We spent three nights a Oscar Scherer State Park in June 2010.
We were there for the Southwest Regional Junior Rowing Championship Regatta.
The park was very private as the foliage is thick around each site.
There are a lot of bunnies and armadillos to drive your dog crazy.
The bath houses are not that nice. We used the trailer.
We did rent a canoe.
There is a Tervis Tumbler outlet just down the road.
You can't go to FL without bringing home a Tervis!
Not much else to share as we were focused on the regatta and cooking for the team.
Our oldest son did make it to nationals!
Hopefully our youngest will make it this year.

There is a Kayak rental place about 2 miles south of Oscar Scherer on 41. They will even deliver. You can paddle down South Creek right into the Intra Coastal Waterway. You are also within 5 minutes of a dozen great restaurants.

A Tervus tumbler is a double walled clear plastic mug or liquid vessel. The reason for the double wall is the container is not supposed to sweat in the humid weather. The Tervis tumbler factory in here in Nokomis, FL. Otherwise known as paradise. My wife and I come here for the Winter. As for Sarasota, that is where The Florida State Rally is held every Feb.. It will be there next week at Robarts Arena. We'll be there.

Sarasota

We're from Sarasota, too. Well, my husband is, and I lived there with him for 7 years before coming back to Arkansas. Hope to be heading that way next weekend after this next big snow hits us Wednesday. Can't get good enough to weather to finish the work on Esmerelda's floor. I'm about ready to head that way anyway, but looks like we're stuck until after the 6 to 12 inches they're predicting for tomorrow night comes and goes. I don't think Arkansas has ever had this much snow!

Fort Desoto on Tampa Bay is a really nice campground with very nice facilities. We've tent camped there before and it also has the very private campsites surrounded by palmetto. There are lots of huge live oaks at Ft. Desoto with massive low limbs! But they aren't on the roadway or in most campsites. You really have to keep your stuff bungeed or roped shut outside - racoons are little marauders every night - but really fun to watch. They tried to unzip our tent while we were sleeping!

Airstreamhobo,

Great pics. I understand Traveler's Rest was once a all AS park. We were at the Canopener in Destin last month and on the way back here we were going to stop there, the weather decided different. We have friends there from NY.

See you in Sarasota!!

The weather is co-operating this year, many early arrivals, near 80's by the weekend. Great!!
