Headed for the Maritimes

We are headed to the Canadian maritimes from mid Aug through most of September. It's the two of us and our setter Tess. We look forward to spend a good six weeks taking in New Bruswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, Newfoundland/Labrador. We like it all: outdoors sports, culture, history, nature, etc. Any pearls of wisdom as to what to see, where to stay that some of you may have found interesting and must-sees??

Thank you in advance.

Frank

Frank this is or trip last year http://www.airforums.com/forums/f42/...d-79445-7.html I think we entered Canada at about post 90. We went around New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI back around New Brunswick and back into Maine. We had a ball and my only caution is to head back around Labor Day because everything camping wise shuts down for the winter.

Cheers, Dan

A visit to Quebec city is a treat along the way. Try not to miss it. PEI is a great spot and the seafood alone is worth the trip. We stayed a couple of days at a Prov. Park on the north shore. A very nice CG.

If your plan is to swing down into Maine there's a very nice CG at
Camden, Maine. Camden Hills State Park.

Have a great trip and enjoy.

Watch out for the fresh fruit when you leave Canada. No citrus allowed.

Quebec City is one of the oldest settlements in North America and is a wonderful place to visit.

If your trip takes you along the south shore of the St Lawrence, you have only to stop at Levis, QC and take the ferry across to spend time there. In fact, the view of the city from the ferry is special of itself. They run regular commuter hours, never a long wait.

Up the river a few miles from Quebec city is a bridge that goes over to Isle De Orleans. Beautiful farms and apple orchards and lovely views of Quebec city and the seaway. Not much commercial on it, but there are good places to eat and a campground. At the bridge is a wonderful waterfall and a cable car ride. And a little ways further up the road is a great cathedral. Also, if you go up either the north or the south side of the seaway there are whale watching tours that are long, nice ride on the seaway and sometimes lots of whales.
