Vernon, Sarah, Mac the Border Collie and Epiphany the Airstream (ETA for short) are heading out for a 1800 mile romp and we thought we would bring ya'll along. With some side trips we may hit 8 states in 7 days. Our plan is to depart from Jackson MS on 8-12-07 with the following route; Stop in Starkville for a friends wedding, continue up the Natchez Trace to Tishamingo State Park for Day1. Complete the Trace to Nashville and continue to Bardstown KY for day 2. On to Winfield WV with stops along the way for day 3. Day 4 will be a work day followed by a short hop to Beckley. On to Asheville NC via the Blue Ridge Parkway for day 5. Hop over to Falls Creek Falls State Park for day 6. Back home on day 7.
This will be a first for Sarah, she’s never done more that a full day on the road at any given time. Wish us luck and we will try to post updates from the road

Well, everything is loaded and it was tough! The temps are in the 100 degree range and the fridge is really struggling at about 50 degrees. The truck and Epiphany are washed so we head out tomorrow.
It's time for a cool beverage

Tow 'em while they're HOT! Have a wonderful trip. I'm looking forward to the travelogue.

Luke the Border Collie wishes Mac a good trip. I wish the humans a good trip.
Mac has known we were going for three days now. All I did was move the Airstream into the driveway...he won't let me get more that 3 feet from him. He has been carrying a ball the whole time. I guess with that in his mouth he's got all of his stuff packed

First leg of the trip was a stop in Starkville, Mississippi, to attend the wedding of dear friends oldest son.
Next stop, Tishomingo State Park, at Milepost 304 along the Natchez Trace Parkway. Nice campground …exploring the area and trails led us to massive rock formations blanketed in moss. One trail in particular was a stairway carved out of rock that led to an impressive overhang …… further exploring led us to a swinging bridge built in 1939 which crosses a small creek. We feel like royalty having the entire campground to ourselves, for $16. Remote? No cell coverage!

Great pics!! Keem em' comming. What a beautiful area. I've never been to Kentucky and have only driven through Miss. at night. This is definitely a trip to put on my (short) list. Good luck and have fun!

Day 2 About 10 degrees cooler today. We did see 103 degrees yesterday.
On the road north up the Natchez Trace toward Nashville. Stopped at a bunch of roadside areas but the best was Fall hollow between mile post 391 and 392--a waterfall scene nestled among the woods along a short “unimproved path” worth the small hike though-two different falls.
Interstate through Nashville was fun (not!). Saw an Argosy headed south but the rest of the USA was headed north with us .
The Bluegrass Parkway from Elizabeth KY to Bardstown is a great smooth drive. Tonight’s stay is at the My Old Kentucky Home State park. 20’ behind our camper is Tee #1 so we are basically camping on a golf course! 7:30 pm and we are wiped out – when does the sun set here?
