Head for the Hills 2016

Every couple of years we sneak off work for a few days and haul an Airstream on an extended adventure.

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f42/...-a-121208.html

http://www.airforums.com/forums/blog...-0-and-1-1833/

dunno where the 2010 stuff is located...

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f42/...8-a-41824.html

So we are off again! This year its a bit different, we will have traveling companions, good friends with a Tradewind. Once again, we will try and post some of the adventures and photos. We have no reservations and only a generic plan so hopefully Big Fun can be located.

Vernon,
Have fun.
Showed my Trade Wind to some folks this morning and mentioned I had gotten the frame for the gaucho from an Airstreamer around Jackson!. I just opened the laptop and there was your post!!.. Have a good trip. If you get close to my area I'd love to visit.

Might as well get this out of the way. Last time we dealt with this in Colorado. Didn't even make it out of town before a broken valve stem has me at the Firestone shopClick image for larger version

Like I would say about my boat problems..."better that it happen here at home in the driveway than 'out there' somewhere".

We headed West! 480 miles and made it to Henretta TX today. From Tyler we hit state roads and found a little city park all to ourselves. Tomorrow we head NE and toward WY.

HiHo, you guys look great together in that that park. Is that a drone photo or did you climb a tree to get that nice picture.

Drone? Who would be so bold to fly a drone in a park😉
Everything was good until midnight and at 3:00 am when the storms blew thru. The winds blew a roof off of the ballpark stands. Not much sleep then we dodged storms all the way into Colorado. With a 30 mph tail wind I got 16+ mpg. Click image for larger version

Great trip and pics. My first thought when you said Texas, was Storms! Were you using your phone to follow the storms. What apps do you like. What happens when you don't have cell service. How do you navigate around

We have a bunch of weather apps and bounce between them. I like The Weather app because I'm a map kind of guy.
Tonight we are at a small BLM camp on the green river, just north of Pinedale WY, headed to some remote boondocking at a mountain lake tomorrow for a couple of days. We met a nice Airstream Couple here who are going to work camp in Yellowstone for the summer.
As soon as we have better coverage I'll post photos.
