Hazmat routes

Does anyone know if there is a map/travel guide that shows the HAZMAT routes. I will be going from NY (long Island) to Fort Wilderness Fla this Jan. I know that I cannot take one of the tunnels in Maryland with the two lp tanks. Any help. Rob

You might check the truck stops for a "Truckers Altas", they show a lot of additional information. Ports, weight limits, best routes, rest areas., the pages are laminated, for long use, etc, etc.

No, I don't, Probably made by the same folks that print the other atlases.

But,, I would bet you can find them online somewhere.

Thanks to all. I just purchased a 2008 truckers atlas on line. $16. + shipping. With that and my GPS I'm ready to go. I pick up my 08 safari this Dec. It is being built now. Again thanks to all. This is a great site. Rob

The only problem once you clear New York City is in Baltimore, you have to use 695 around the tunnel, and you don't want to go that way anyway.

New Jersey TP to the Delaware bridge, DO NOT USE EASY PASS on that bridge they will charge it double. Seven or eight miles south of the bridge on 95 take 896 south. 896 will run into 301 and take you down through Annapolis. 19 mile west of Annapolis on 50/301 you will take 301 south. You can take 301 to 207 and out to 95 at Carmel Church Va. and then south all the way on 95 to Fl.

I prefer to stay on 301 at Bowling Green Va, 207, and pick up 295 south to 95 and bypass Ritchmond.

Are you serious?
For two propane tanks they restrict your travel routes?? Wow, I thought we were nuts out here in California...

Its realy a contest between the east and west coast as to who can creat the most restrictive laws . You side is ahead on the tree hugging end and we are ahead on the civil liberties side. Luckily middle America hasn't taken sides yet.

I would not worry about it. There will be signs for Hazmat routes and two propane tanks on an RV is usually not a problem. they just have to off.

This is what I found seardhing the web regarding bottled propane:
Bottled Propane Restrictions
In the Baltimore Harbor (I-895) and Fort McHenry (I-95) tunnels, the following bottled-propane restrictions apply:
  • Must be 10-pound (or less) containers
  • Maximum of 10 containers per vehicle
  • An alternative route is the Francis Scott Key Bridge (I-695) there are no propane restrictions on Marylands bridges.

10 lb or 10 Gal. 10 Gal would make more sense. I am still looking on the MDOTs website.
