Guns on the Road Part 2

Ok after 15,000 or so replies to the original Guns on the road question I have no reason to go there again!
But how about addressing specifically 'shotguns" not hand guns.
They are transported all the time across state lines without problems. Can I inquire to all those far more knowledgeable than myself if bringing a shotgun is a good trouble free option?

Starting a new thread with "Shotguns only" in the title might help avoid another gun thread run wild IMO. A previous thread asking about shotguns contained comments about trailers being a difficult place to use a shotgun effectively because of the limited interior room to swing the gun, thus the preference for hand guns.

It's only trouble if you shoot someone with it.

I took a shotgun thru Canada to Alaska and back with no problems, but you do have to get the permit, which you can find the form for on line, fill it out, and pay the $25 for the permit at the border. The key thing is to tell them you are "transporting" it. The main thing they want is the $25.

Shotguns are no problems.

Still, I don't feel these threads are productive or good for this forum.

Thank you, BA.

I saw this thread, and I thought...why???...what is the purpose of this???

Seriously.....the o.p drops this and goes...just makes no sense to me.

Or, maybe it does.

Well, the haters will always be anti gun anything. If airstreamers have an interest it in, then I would think it's ok for it to be discussed in a forum where we all share interstate travel. To a licensed gun owner, the discussion is as meaningful and relevant as many here. Really, if it offends you a little self selective reading is a fair compromise. It's really not a moral issue, guns are legal.

By the way Texas Legislature went back and specified 'while traveling' so even local law enforcement understood that they are limited in restricting the transportation of weapons.

It's just that guns have been discussed here, ad nauseum.

I'm not a hater, nor anti gun...styling a new gun thread for shotguns only just seems....

I'm outta here.

Option for what? Upland birds?

Well said. Haters are going to hate no matter what the subject or relevance.

I've always been a shotgun advocate - over handgun (was trained both ways).
The comment about the size of a shotgun in confined space is penitent. So:

The last few years I've gone to a 20 gauge, short barrel, extended magazine, pistol grip shotgun. This is not a aiming situation so one must practice to hit anything with Pistol grip. Same with hand gun.

Makes for a handy, effective self defense tool.

Divisive language like the above is at the heart of many of the issues we're currently facing.
