The whole Gulf area is beautiful to drive and see. We like Gulf Islands National Seashore, for camping and viewing alligators! Ocean Springs, MS is very pretty---you will find it all worth going for! Travel safe.

Places on the Gulf

Majestic Oaks RV Park in Biloxi, MS is a very nice place to stay. A couple blocks off the Gulf and close to the Casinos and restaurants. Owners are very nice and helpful.

We went down to the area on a very short notice the weekend before July 4th and the only site we could find was at Perdido Cove RV Park.

Perdido Cove

Great location, we rode bikes to Johnson Beach park and to the Sunset grill. The Oyster House was visible thru our bath window.

Possible the cleanest RV park we have ever stayed in but also the most expensive with sites ranging from $55 to $85 per night. Be prepared to be the smallest RV in the grounds, Our neighbor was a 44' Country Coach

They do have a 10 year rule, just tell them you are in a vintage Airstream and it looks great -

Henderson Beach State Park

We cannot say enough about Henderson Beach State Park, 17000 Emerald Coast Parkway, Destin, Florida 32541. Sugar white sand, beautiful sunsets, spacious camping sites and all that wedged into a developed and popular area. What an oasis! Don't want to cook? Fresh seafood in wonderful restaurants abound. The park is kept in magnificent condition (pre-Katrina) and we look forward to getting back down one Winter really soon. All that and reasonable state park camping rates as well. Give it a try. Having said all that, there are some private campgrounds on the beach as well but none compare.

I've stayed at the Gulf Shores State Park. Very close to the water and nice views. Great beach access. It's booked up through the end of summer, should be easy to find a spot after the kids go back to school.

we go to gulf shores all the time and this is where we stay: Island Retreat RV Park October will be a great month to go.They will be having the shrimp festival on 8-9-10 and 11. Over 200 vendors will be there as well as about 200,000 people stretched out over the four days. The main intersection at the beach will be closed to traffic. Transporta tion will be provided by small buses for 1.00. they run about every 15 min. The vendors are from all over the United States. You can't beat gulf shrimp on our beautiful white sandy beaches. Also, several years ago on pbs they ran a series on the zoo that had to move the animals twice because of hurricanes...that is in Gulf Shores also. It's not too early to make reservations so come on down.....we'll see you there!

we live in bon secour al, about 5 miles north of gulf shores. the state park is a very good park with a big lake and easy access to the whole area. 79ntow is accurate on the festival info, lots of great seafood resturants. will be very growded at that time but there is a lot of free entertainment some well known and some local. also if you like history the naval base in pensacola (45 minutes away ) has a great museum there. there are alot of parks down here to choose from so im sure you can find one. let us know where you`ll be.

Top Sail Hill!!! It is a little further over toward Destin but it is well worth it. Absolutely beautiful and fairly inexpensive, unbelievable beach. We will return for two weeks again next summer. (and there were 5 other Airstreams in the park)

Check out the public piers in FLA, most don't require a fishin' permit (badges? we don't need no stinkin badges!)
Ft. Pickens has a great pier, they HOPE to have the power up and goin by Thanksgiving, it would be worth calling before you head down.

I usually head for the marsh for the really good fishing, that means driving south of New Orleans about an hour

Keep us posted during the trip

We have stayed at Island Retreat and Doc's both in Gulf Shores.

I would recommend either one but Doc's is our 1st choice rate is about the same $187 a week or $28 a night.

We go there every year reservations are pretty much required.

There is the AL State park in Gulf Shores a really big CG but we have not stayed there.

The Blue Angels have practice sessions at the Naval Air Museum weekly. Be sure to check them out. They perform the same routine as in their air shows. Well worth the trip over. It's about 30 - 40 minutes from Gulf Shores. Check out the site below for the practice dates.
