Gulf Coast to Anastasia State Park- St. Augustine

Will be going up I-75 up to Anastasia State Park and was looking for some driving suggestions. Is it better to take I-4 and go thru Orlando or could we take Rt. 20 and head east to the park? The little lady thinks it might be better to avoid I-4 because of congestion. We've never driven that part of Florida. If theres a better route I'm open to any suggestions.
Thanks

I-4 thru Orlando is a mess right now due to expansion construction.

You could consider taking I-4 to 528 "beachline" and then take I-95 north.

Be careful thru Daytona due to construction on I-95 there. I would probably get off I-95 at port orange and take AIA north for a scenic ride to Anastasia.

We're heading up to Anastasia in 3 weeks for a long weekend stay.

You'll encounter the usual stoplights etc going thru Daytona but once you get north of Ormond you'll be riding along with spectacular ocean views thru Flagler Beach.

Anastasia is one of our favorites. If you're there on a Saturday, there is a nice farmers market at the Ampitheater next to the park.

I don't much care for the I-4 through downtown Orlando. Very rough, very curvy, lots of insane drivers! Crossing over on the 40, going through Ocala is a nice drive, very pretty.

Anastasia is a great camp spot, very close to the beach. Be careful that you don't show up when somebody loud is playing at the Amphitheater. A good place to bring the bikes. It's fun to head into St. Aug for dinner, but there isn't much parking.

St.Augustine

Avoid Orlando like the plague.Extreme traffic,extreme tolls.Take I-75 north to 26/20 to Palatka to 207/206 to US A1A north to St.Aug./Anastasia St.Park.

We live in SA. Agree about I4, particularly thru Orlando and the last 10 miles before I95. 20 and 40 are both good choices. Any that wind thru the Forest Service lands are scenic and good roads. You can lose cell coverage in some spots. Have fun!

I like 19 (the Black Bear Scenic Highway) up through central Florida to Palatka then head east on 20

Little Lady is correct. Avoid I-4.

That's our route too! Love Anastasia, we'll be there in February.

I like your i75 to 20 route. Best with no tolls. I4 is an option and the construction hasn't had much of an affect on traffic but if you decide on I4, I agree that downtown is very, very bumpy so go easy. I live just north of downtown and while the construction hasn't been bad, the wavy pavement you will need to slow down with. Going east to i95 on the beach line (528 tolls) I would cross to A1A at Ormond (40) and head up. A1A is good there to Anastasia. Have a great trip
