Sounds like you had a great trip. Arizona, like New Mexico, has many great places to visit. Camping on the Mogollon Rim is one of our favorite things to do. Dead Horse is another and it is also the site of a very popular 4CU rally.

Yes, we looked at the group area at Dead Horse where the 4CU rally was held. It looked really nice; wish we could have taken part. Alas, 4CU is having the bosque del apache rally this very weekend, I think. Unfortunately, even though we were just a few miles to the north in Los Lunas at the end of our trip, it was really time for us to get back home. (Among other things, our park sitters are needing to leave.)

Wowzer, you Da Man if you towed your 30 footer south on 89 through Oak Creek Canyon. I took a day trip in my truck from Dead Horse to Oak Creek Canyon. I was very glad I wasn't towing through that very narrow area.

Please don't tell me you also towed through Jerome. I'm impressed, well done. Nice pis too.

Yep, we went right down Oak Creek Canyon on 89A. I'd heard it was, ah, interesting, but it was passable. But, no, we didn't dream of stopping up the traffic in Jerome.

Lynn, we were at the Grand Canyon in June of this year. Like you, we stayed at Trailer Village for 7 days. You are right, there was to much to see and it takes that amount of time to do everything. A lot of our relatives take trips in such a rush and never take the time to enjoy. We were so lucky to have the time to stop and really smell the roses. Glad you enjoyed your trip.

Yep, but you know, most folks spend only an hour or so at the canyon. Actually, that's fine by me. Imagine that those hordes of people that hang out in front of the Bright Angel Lodge were to stay there for seven days each rather than departing after ice cream? The place would be a disaster.

Great trip report. Loved the photos. We are planning a trip "out west" in a couple of years when my youngest is old enough to remember it all. Can't wait to share the beauty of the Grand Canyon with my two boys!

If you want to enjoy the beauty of the Grand Canyon with out the crowds, plan a trip to the North Rim.

Gale & Joe---You are absolutely right about the spending quality time at places like the Canyon. We have been going there multiple times yearly. This summer we decided to Workamp there and spent 6 months. Plans are for a return trip next. I saw people spending hrs in gift shops before they had looked over the rim, and rushing around because they had to get to the next Park that was on their list. I was told the average length of stay there is 4 hrs, go figure !!! Obviously working folks can't spend 6 months at one place but to really enjoy these places it takes more than a few hrs. A little advice :: do research before you begin your trip. become familar with those parts of it that interest you, study the park lay out, roads, lodging, restaurants, visitor services, and take time to read park publications that are handed you at the entrance.------ Pieman
PS we are the the folks that knocked on your Argosy door at trailer village and asked for a tour.
