Now we just need the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to sign the bill and not side with big business again.

WP reports "White House officials have indicated privately that the president will sign it."

"On August 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the Organic Act creating the National Park Service, which became responsible for protecting the existing 14 national parks, 21 monuments, two reservations and those yet to be established."

As a result of that act, over 100 years later, my family and I are able to share some of the most fantastic, protected places in this country, and later on my family's family can do the same. The National Parks are an irreplaceable treasure.

This is really great news for the National Parks!!

Perhaps they should budget National Parks like Social Security - SS had a year's worth of funding when the government shut down so no down time in services. Might be worth a shout out to your Representatives in national government.
National Parks are worth protecting!

There should be no 'national' parks. Anymore.

All those parks should be returned to the state jurisdiction they are in for management like any other state park.

Sorry JJ I would not trust our beautiful state (AZ) to manage our glorious National Parks any better than the Feds are doing. At least on a national level it gets more attention and garners a lot of international visitors.

We won't agree. I'm a federalist. I dont believe in federal government control of state lands for conservation purposes. Military bases, fine. But everything else should be state and private land.

The states can handle it just fine, as they do their own state-park system. If they begin to mis-handle it, guess what, you can go to your state offices and actually talk to someone, or run for office yourself.

Nobody in DC will listen to you, regarding federal lands. Unelected federal bureaucrats? No thanks. A location does not get visitors because its under federal control. It gets visitors because of itself.
