golf/parks

Hi,
I know of a few but can someone give me information about SP's with RV camping that also have golf courses? Mostly looking for places east of the Mississippi.
Or do you know of SP's that have a nearby golfcourse?
Tks
Paul

We spent a night at Rocky Gap State Park near Cumberland, MD. It was a wonderful campground with 30amp and clean rest rooms and showers. There is a Jack Nicklaus designed golf course next door.

Tennessee has Henry Horton, Falls Creek Falls, Cumberland Mountain, Paris Landing, Warriers Path, Picwick Landing, Mongtomery Bell, Panther Creek, and several other parks with very good golf courses and low golf rates. Check out a list from the state park website. The course at Cumberland Mountain is Bear Trace and it is not as inexpensive as the others. The courses are fairly difficult , not typical muncipal courses. Falls creek falls and Henry Horton are very nice courses.

Georgia has a few nice camp/golf combinations that I have played at. My favorite campground is Laura Walker State Park with a adjoining State golf course. Veterans memorial state park and golf course is a great course. Also very good is Jekyl Island. Four courses, I think, nice, and very inexpensive. Campground a couple miles away from the course in a pine groove for shade.

We stayed at Myaka State Park in Florida and I played a public course fairly close to there that was good. Myaka state park is a very nice park with a huge lake.

Crossville TN has a Airstream only park, TCPC, that has low rates (WBCCI members) and half a dozen courses ranging from $15 to $60 within 15 miles or so. It is very close to the Bear Trace course at Cumberland Mountain State Park.

While not a state park, Traverlers Rest Resort in Florida has a very nice little golf course (7 par 4's, 2 par 3's) with character. We spend a couple of months there each year and play it almost every day. Great for a walking course. Come Jan-March and I will play a round with you. TR usually has spaces open in early Jan, but late Jan and Feb you probably need to check and make a reservation.

Pipestem State Park near Princeton, W Va has an 18 hole and a par 3. I'm not a golfer but have been told they are very nice. There is also a lodge there, indoor pool, outdoor pool, horseback riding, tennis, excellent full hook up cg, nice area.

Golf and SP

Between Rock Gap in Maryland and Pipestem in WV, there is Stonewall Jackson State Park just off of I-79. Full hook-ups, WiFI, and an Arnold Palmer designed course that while very challenging, is spectacular.

Further east in the mountains from Stonewall is Canaan Valley State Park with an excellant course that is less of a challenge than Stonewall.

Lots more too, but golf is still a learning experience for me.

Thanks one and all. I've played a few of the mentioned courses but you've given me
plenty of references to keep me busy through next spring at least.
Tks
