Going to the Alaska Caravaan this year

We are trying to determine what camping sites are available to from Calgary to Dawson Creek. Is their an app. Campidium shows nothing. Does anyone have suggestions? We are leaving from the international rally in Salem going up to Canada just east of Vancouver. Thanks

I would suggest looking at the Canadian Provincial Parks along the way. We stayed almost exclusively in those parks on our leg from the Osoyoos entry point to Dawson Creek in 2016. You can reserve ahead. I would also suggest reservations for parks within 200-300 miles of the border....very busy in summer.

There are a lot of national parks on the Calgary side. It will be a busy time of year so make reservations ahead.

Try themilepost.com, east access. Not as comprehensive as the paper edition. Should get you started.

In 2014, from Calgary we stopped at Banff National Park, Tunnel Mountain RV camping to explore Banff Moraine Lake, Lake Louise, then up the Icefields Pkwy to Hinton (NE of Jasper on Hwy 16) and stopped at the KOA there to catch up with laundry etc before joining the caravan at Dawson Creek.

First; get the Allstays Ap. It's worth every penny. Covers Canadian Parks, Campground and points of interest very well.
Next, do not miss Drumheller. There is a world class dinosaur museum there, as the specimens have been found and excavated right there in an area called "the Badlands". Well worth the look and the effort to get there.
There is a site near Calgary named Black Diamond. Here you'll see an eratic, which was deposited by the last glaciation. This is a huge chunk of granite from far north in the Rocky Mountains. It is so large that even though it was "mined" in the last century, that it is still as large as a three story appartment block.

I second the Allstays App, I have been using it for a couple of years and it works great. I have both the US and Canadian version.

Good camping at Maryhill sp WA & area, leavenworth, Wa, via hwy97, then on up to Lk Chalean/Okanagan. Saw lots of folks heading s with Canadian plates. We used GSam, rvparky and allstays. Lots of city/county RV parks...great one in okanogan.
Have fun.

Betty Farmer.......

You need to contact the WBAC at their website for any caravan info. Must have a membership to sign up but last I heard, the Alaska trip has been booked for over a year with about 55 on the weight list. I think the max they take on the trip is about 35 rigs.

Lots of other Airstreamers will be going but traveling in smaller groups sorta shadowing the bigger caravan.
