Since you are going at THE busiest time of year for Disney, the crowds could be large. If you go into the parks accepting that and just relax everyone will have a better time. Don't forget to do the Chip & Dale campfire sing-a-long at Fort Wilderness. It's a free Character Meet and Greet and fun for the kids. You can also roast marsh mellows over the fire. There is a movie shown afterwards. If you aren't staying at Ft Wilderness you can hop the boat from the Magic Kingdom over to the Fort to see it.

You just go - first come first serve on seating so if you are late bring some chairs. I bring hot dogs and buns - they will have a campfire there for marshmellows, we do those too but save time cooking at the camper with cooking and eating hot dogs there. We bring our own fire sticks - again they sell them but why pay for theirs. They have a concession stand - some hot stuff and drinks at Disney prices so again - bring your own. It's kinda open so if you are worried about the weather then bring blankets.

Chip and Dale are only there in the beginning so the time is brief - get in there and get pictures. Movies ate announced well in advance and can be from the early Disney B&W to the more recent releases. Sing along is always fun.

Also, depending on what side you sit on depends on if you get chip or dale.

All GREAT advice... all I can add is pack fewer clothes and more money. Wilderness is one thing you will not find at Fort Wilderness. Enjoy!!!

We will be in one of the loops by the marina, how feasable is it to come back to FW for an hour or two and go back to the magic kingdom in the afternoon? Is this too much effort to get through the transportation system to make the nap worthwhile?

It is very feasible. One of the transportation boats has direct service to the MK. One boat goes directly to the MK and the other I think goes to Wilderness Lodge and then on to the Contemporary Resort, then back to the campground.

The transportation for on site guests is pretty amazing... I know a friend/coworker is a regular at FW and I know they will go to the trailer for a rest or a meal with a 5 year old boy in tow no less!

At least one of us returns midday to let the dogs out and feed them.

It can be hectic but it can be slower. FW is what you make of it. I know people who don't even bother to leave the campground....of course with kids.. that's not us

I am working on an upcoming trip to FW and am looking for some help/experience with part of the route.

I will be travelling east on I10 and then heading south on I75 then on 91 (tollroad).

From there various routing software comes up with different routes. There seems to be three major options.

Option 1: From 91 exit onto 429 S (toll road) and then exit onto County Rd 535, the Winter Garden Vineland Road and then onto Vista drive into DW.

Option 2: From 91 exit onto 429 S (toll road) and then exit onto Western Way into DS.

Option 3: From 91 exit onto I4 south and then Epcot Center Drive into DW.

I am towing a 30' so I am more concerned about trailer friendly and easy instead of the shortest route.

Thanks in advance.

We have a Rand McNally RVTrip Maker GPS that allows us to put in all our dimensions and LP amount then it routes us to where we can go. Hopefully someone will come along that can help you.

How do you like your RV Tripmaker GPS? It has mixed reviews over on Amazon.
