Rodney,
All I can say is awesome what wonderful shots. Bald eagles are a sight to behold.
We to are on our way south tomorrow to Port Mansfield, Texas. If you like wildlife shots you should check out this place. The campground has 8 point bucks and wild turkey wondering through it. On the way in along the highway you can see nilguy a very large gray blue antelope. If you make it that way look us up .

Your 1st shot is going to be tough to beat. Very pleasing wing shape, and background. Eagle turning its head, as to pose for the pic. All are beautiful, but that 1st one, oh my.

The road south

I will be heading out of Middle TN the day after Christmas on the way to Padre Island. Still working on the route though. I had given some thought to swinging through New Orleans, but I don't know if its worth visiting anymore. With all the rain forecast, I may just hit the interstate and go for a rapid transit. Any thoughts? Any must see beach stops?

You're invited to swing east, cruise the panhandle, and light at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park in Florida to join us for the second Can Opener,Thursday to Sunday, Jan. 3-6. You could trade us photography tips in exchange for an extravagant pot luck Saturday night. Then you could ramble back west through New Orleans and on to Padre. Now, how's that for a fun start for a new year? Hope we see you there...~G

Thanks for the offer, but I have reached the eastern extent of this ramble. Besides, I'm thinking my NYE date would not be happy about a no show...

Feel free to courtesy park in Huntsville, AL after a long and arduous 70 mile voyage from where I think you might be.

Seriously, you're welcome here if it fits your plans.

Great pictures Rodney! We've seen bald eagles in Alaska, some up real close, but nothing like this. A guide told us to look for a golf ball in a tree to identify them. There are thousands in an area near Haines, Alaska, near the northern end of the Inside Passage, but we've never been there at the right time of the year. When you finally get to Alaska, check out the time of year to go to Haines, a nice place to visit anytime.

Rodney,

There is also a town called Squamish an hour north of Vancouver, BC where they get well over a thousand Eagles returning annually for the salmon run. Some wonderful scenery right along the Pacific coast, great places to camp, and just an hour away from Whistler, BC where the 2010 Olympics are being held. Well worth a trip up this way .

Glad to know that your truck is working exactly the way you needed it to.
Merry Christmas,
Barry
